Property Description

Peacefully situated on a vegetable and grassland farmstead, these holiday cottages have been converted from a 200 year old barn and retain charm and character. Its tranquil location in a quiet area between the Solway Plain and the North West Lake District National Park, makes it ideal for getting away from it all, but enables easy access to North and West Cumbria. The breathtaking beauty of the western Lake District is on the doorstep, while Silloth and the Solway Coast, 10 miles, well known for its golf courses. William Wordsworth was born in Cockermouth, 20 minutes. Keswick, 25 minutes, is surrounded by fells and lakes - a walker’s paradise. Carlisle, The Border City, is within easy reach, 20 minutes, and over Hadrian’s Wall takes you into Scotland. The cottages enjoy stunning views over Cumbrian countryside towards Skiddaw and the Lakeland fells. Set off from your doorstep and meander along the old disused railway line or the banks of the Little Waver, which runs through the farmland and includes three wildlife ponds. Discover the wildlife including red squirrels, badgers, deer, foxes, and a variety of birds. Enjoy home grown vegetables straight from the field. Shop 3 miles, pub 1½ miles.
Properties 19990, 19991 and 19992 can all be booked together to accommodate larger parties.

Ground floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft) with en-suite bathroom and toilet, 1 twin. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beams.

  2. We found the location perfect! It was a lovely drive to lots of beautiful places and down the secluded farm lane you had access to the main roads, so easy to get about. The barn itself was gorgeous! It was first class and so clean and cosy. We loved the open plan, topsy-turvey layout. The children loved the garden and playing with the friendly dog. Seeing the children enjoy the countryside while we snuggled up in front of the wood burner made this one of the best, most relaxing holidays we’ve had in years. (We usually go abroad).   19. Stayed in many holiday cottages and this was by far the best. We had plenty of space as there was only 2 of us but even with 6 people it would still be roomy. The owners were more than helpful (even lent us there bikes). Local pub The Oddfellows served good food so we visited every night and felt like a local by the time we left. Stay here if you get a chance. June 2009.
