Reached by a good farm road, this barn conversion is set in the valley of the River Hamps, amidst the Peak District National Park. Occupying a secluded position, each with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. There is excellent walking from the door with numerous local footpaths. Froghall Wharf, Foxfield Steam Railway and Alton Towers are within a 10 minute drive, with Gladstone Pottery Museum and Waterworld a little further afield. Sudbury NT, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are all within 17 miles. Harvey Gate Farm makes an ideal base for visiting all the attractions the Peak District has to offer. Shops 4 miles, pub 2 miles.

  1. This accommodation was fab. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We went walking everyday and it was great to go back to a peaceful cosy cottage for dinner and sleep. July 2012.
  2. Lovely cottage, well equipped, beautiful bedroom. It is out of the way in the sense you can’t pop down the road to the nearest shop/pub/restaurant, but we knew this when we booked and as long as you have a car (or come stocked up for your stay and just fancy pottering round the local area) it’s easy to get anywhere in the Peak District. Would definitely come again. We were a couple but would consider booking the whole place, as attached to The Stable is a family size property so would be good for a larger group. March 2012.

  7. The cottage was situated in a superb position in the Staffordshire Moors. It was ideally placed to drive into the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales, as well as to visit local market towns, such as Leek and Ashbourne. It was well-appointed and had an added bonus of four horses (who loved carrots, sugar cubes and polo mints) and a cat who was also extremely friendly! Aug 2010.

This property was excellent... we had everything there that we needed, and it is the perfect get away from it all break... and as we couldn’t even get mobile phone signals... that is just what we got! It is pretty central to a lot of small towns and villages. The owners are a very nice couple and very helpful and accommodating. We are definitely going to be going back there we enjoyed it so much...! Oct 2009.
