These two charming holiday properties overlook the River Douglas, to which there are exclusive fishing rights for brown trout, grayling and pike. Harperfield Chalet (ref 24077) is a unique studio apartment, comfortably and cleverly furnished with its own south-facing verandah, whereas Harperfield Lodge (ref 28338) is a delightful stone-built holiday lodge set within a lovely mature shared garden. Centrally situated with Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders all under an hour’s drive, yet just 5 miles from the market town of Lanark, where the story of New Lanark vividly reflects mill life 200 years ago. Riding, golf and fishing available locally. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

All on one level: Living room/double (5ft) bedroom area. Kitchen. Shower room and toilet.

Electric heaters included. Video. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Lawned garden with decking and furniture. NB: There are 14 steps to the garden and an unfenced river.

Both properties: Electricity included. Microwave. Parking (1 car). No smoking.

  2. Lovely welcome gift, the location was just what we needed quiet, scenery was lovely, weather did not spoil holiday easy access to main town and to edinburgh and glasgow. a well visit to new lanark recommended. Sept 2011.
  3. My wife and I were looking for a place to unwind and relax and this was definately the place. The cottage was ideal for us both,very clean,beautiful views, fishing although I never caught any due to the bright sunshine, well kept gardens which comes with all kinds off wildlife inc regular squirrels woodpeckers etc. Our host Ian introduced himself and let us enjoy our holiday and I would also like to thank him for the lovely welcome pack he gave us on arrival. Would definately recommend Harperfield cottage to anyone. Thanks again. July 2011.
  4. Studio type accommodation with easy access to quiet local roads and the west coast motorway. Great views of garden, the river and the Black Hill in ever changing light. Glasgow / Edinburgh belt easily accessed by road, but recommend exploration of hills and villages west of M74. Use railway park and ride at Carluke not Lanark. Do not miss New Lanark. June 2011.
  5. It was a lovely property and were made welcome when we arrived. It was wet and storming the whole week, but it did not dampen our spirits. We made the most of it. May 2011.
  6. For 2 persons the size was right. We were cosy but not in any way cramped. We had sufficient facilities to last a fortnight without feeling a lack of anything. Spot overlooking river was marvelous in an attractive part of the country. Sept 2010.
  7. The cottage is remote and quiet - just what we wanted. The closest town is 5 miles away which was fine for all our shopping needs. Aug 2010.
