With shared gardens and stunning lake, this beautifully converted detached single-storey barn enjoys a superb elevated location. Approached alongside the owner’s home with gently sloping path access, the Boathouse is at the heart of this glorious award-winning Victorian garden that has been featured in national magazines including Homes & Gardens. A perfect holiday base for breathtaking scenery and spectacular downland and coastal walks. Beach 700 yards. Shop ½ mile.

  2. The Boathouse is very special: literally a home within a home - or within a stunning home and a most memorable garden. Inside is light, bright and very stylish, with lots of room to relax and thoughtful extras. Tucked away down quiet country lanes, there’s a rocky beach and the coastal path almost on the doorstep if, like us, you want to explore on foot as well as in the car. Phillippa and Steve were warm and helpful hosts, who seemed delighted to share their home with us, and we felt this was a holiday where you could be as adventurous and energetic or as peaceful and laidback as you wished. We were all these things at different times and thoroughly enjoyed our lovely week. June 2012.

  4. I just wanted to let you know that the property was of an extremely high standard. It is a very well presented cottage and is set in the most beautiful gardens. The owners Phillippa and Steve were very approachable and nothing was too much trouble for them. There was a welcoming tea tray waiting for us on arrival complete with a home baked cake. I would recommend the property to friends and family and both my husband and myself do hope to return at sometime in the future.
    I’m not sure if you have a star rating system for your properties but if you do we would like to give the Boathouse the highest possible rating. Aug 2011.
  5. We have been coming to the island for a long time but have never stayed in such beautiful surroundings. A truly magical and uplifting place and a fine testament to the vision and drive of Steve and Phillippa. Everything was perfect, from the warm welcome (and home made cake) to the personal guided tour. We hope to return. Aug 2011.

We were amazed by the exceptionally high quality of the accommodation, the attention to detail of all its furniture and fittings and all the extra touches such as books, magazines and even a delicious home made cake on our arrival, all of which added to our comfort and enjoyment of our holiday there. The fabulous tropical gardens, the huge lake, the walled garden just outside our back door and most importantly the genuine welcome and helpfulness of our hosts Phillipa and Steve made us feel that we had discovered a real gem!
