Property Description

This delightful country holiday home, attached to the owner’s house, has extensive gardens, woodland and panoramic views across the Rede Valley. The property is located on the edge of the National Park, in an AONB, and only 30 minutes from Kielder Water, a north east tourist attraction, and only a few miles from Hadrian’s Wall. Otterburn, once the site of the famous 1388 victory of the Scots over the English, nestles close to the banks of the River Rede between the hills and the moors overlooking the North Tyne Valley. With pretty walks and cycle routes from the door, as well as local fishing, horse riding, golf and a pub nearby, this is a superb location for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year. The village was once the home of a busy weaving industry and houses Otterburn Mill, marking the village’s historic past and is a great tourist stop off for afternoon tea. Easy access to the Northumberland coast, with golden beaches and an outstanding coastline peppered with castles and friendly locals. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

  1. Beautiful house in a lovely quiet location. Birds, red squirrels, deer, rabbits, hares, badgers. But best of all the lovely Liz, talk to her and she will tell you all you need to know, worth every penny. Sept 2011.
  2. Lovely cottage in a good location for exploring Northumberland. Apart from the usual National Trust properties and coast and castles etc, there are a number of local artists and artisans open for visitors. Great location for walking the dogs with views to die for, it was like being on top of the world! Sept 2011.
  3. The cottage was beautiful - lots of character, exactly what we wanted! Dec 2010.
  4. Clean, tidy, warm, friendly, nothing was to much trouble for Mrs Angus. Would recommend this property . 5 stars. Dec 2010.
  5. Perfect location for a quiet break but convenient to local village for pubs and restaurants and grocery shop. The cottage was very clean and roomy and the owner had gone the extra mile with wee extras eg, everything you need in the kitchen and bath supplies. There is even a swimming pool in the garden !. You could also get free range eggs from the owners own chickens. June 2010.
  6. Spacious and very homely. May 2010.
  7. The property was in a wonderful location and the owner of the property very charming and helpful. For dog owners a perfect location! Feb 2010.
  8. The property is delightful, the welcome warm and friendly, the location perfect for our needs. March 2010.
  9. This property surpassed all of our expectations, it was a truly homely and beautiful place to which the photos on the website do not do justice. The owner was more than helpful and welcoming, providing fresh eggs from her chickens and grit for the icy path. We will definitely return to Greenchesters, it was a memorable and luxurious holiday. Dec 2009.
