These attractive stone holiday cottages enjoy their own driveways and pretty, lawned gardens. Green Farm Cottage, (ref RPP6), adjoins the owners’ 17th-century farmhouse, and Green Farm Stables (ref RFFQ), stands detached. Tucked away down a little lane, they lie 500 yards from the heart of the attractive old village of Hognaston, which stands on a hillside overlooked by Hognaston Wynn. Many houses in the village date back to the 17th and 18th century, as does the pub. Within walking distance is beautiful Carsington Water, offering superb water sports, sailing and bike hire facilities with an area devoted to wildlife along with cycle and walking trails. Located on the edge of the Peak District, the cottages are just 4 miles from the picturesque market town of Ashbourne known as the ‘Gateway to Dovedale’. Other places to visit nearby include Bakewell, Matlock Bath, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Keddleston Hall, as well as other National Trust and English Heritage properties. It is only a short drive to Dovedale and the other lovely dales of the limestone White Peak District, which offers great walking. A little further afield, visit Alton Towers theme park for a great day out for both adults and children alike, who will also enjoy Go Ape at Buxton. We can highly recommend the food at the Red Lion Pub in Hognaston village . Would rebook again when cycling in the area. Ashbourne town centre is 10 mins in the car. Carsington waters is a 10 min walk/cycle away no car needed. Not for the disabled. March 2012.

The weather was cold, but the heating was very efficient so we were warm and cosy.The owners were friendly and helpful without being intrusive.The cottage was comfortable, very clean and thoughtfully equipped. Plenty of parking space and your own garden to enjoy when the weather is good. Lots of local walks. March 2011.
  7. The property was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The owners were extremely thoughtful in the little extra touches. For example a basket of toys was left for my 10 month old daughter, which I felt was very kind. I requested a highchair and cot but there was also a changing mat and nappy sacks, which was very thoughttul. We thought the kitchen was quite a good size for holiday accommodation and was well kitted out. Overall the property was lovely and we had an excellent holiday. Would recommend to friends and family.
