Property Description

Idyllic country cottages converted from a 17th-century farmhouse

This row of holiday cottages has been created from a lovely old stone farmhouse, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. In a quiet village near Skipton, with beautiful views across the valley to Bolton Abbey, with its ruined priory and woodland walks. All the cottages are beautifully appointed and well equipped, with individual character, original features, pine furniture and pretty fabrics all enhance their old-world charm. Garden Cottage is second in the row of three, with flagged kitchen floor, exposed beams, marble fireplace and old plaster mouldings. Grange Farm House is an end of the row house, with beams aplenty, recessed panelled and shuttered windows and old stone work. Delph House forms the left hand side of Grange Farm Cottages and enjoys exposed beams. Enjoy a visit to the home of the Brontës at Haworth, 12 miles. Or go back in time and ride on the steam trains of the Yorkshire Dales Railway, 3 miles, or the Worth Valley Railway, 12 miles. Skipton is home to a medieval castle, a choice of shops, pubs and restaurants and boat trips down the 200-year-old Leeds and Liverpool Canal. There is some excellent walking to be enjoyed locally, just a few miles from the Pennine Way.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Warm, comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and ideal for a christmas holiday. Dec 2012.
  2. Lovely spacious cottage in a quiet location, plenty of room for a family of 6. The cottage was warm & inviting on arrival with everything needed for our long weekend break. As fuel costs are in with the price there were no extra expenses & with Skipton, Bolton Abbey & Ilkley only a short drive away there’s lots to do & see nearby. Oct 2012.
  3. This was our second stay at Grange Farm but in a different cottage. This time we had the two smaller houses because the larger one was already booked. The cottages are both much nicer than the pictures on the website suggest. They are not luxurious but are very comfortable and have a lot of character (some of the doorways are quite low so be careful if you are over 6ft!). There is a garden with swings which our children loved plus a small playground in the village suitable for young children (6). The cottages were very hot (storage heaters) but once a few were switched off, the temperature was fine! The hot water was also extremely hot so careful supervision of the kids at bath time is essential. The cooker is not brilliant but fine for holiday cooking. Ditto the shower. Draughton is a lovely quiet village. Shame there is no shop or pub which would make it a perfect location! Overall, we had a good holiday and would definitely stay again. April 2012.
  4. Great weekend house in a fab location will be going again for longer next time, not enough time to do all we wanted. March 2011.
  5. The house felt like a home - not like a holiday let. It was very comfortable & arriving on a very wet cold afternoon to the warmth of the storage heaters & lights left on for our convenience, was very welcoming. It was really well equipped & very clean throughout. Nov 2010.
  6. Very homely and welcoming. Everything you need. Nov 2010.
  7. Being very old it had great charm and character. Nov 2010.
  8. The property is even nicer than the photos portray. Its very spacious and has a sense of history. Sept 2010.
  9. Liked the location and comfort. July 2010.
  10. Quiet, roomy, warm; easy access to A65 and A59. Mar 2010.
  11. Very comfy with loads of character we really like the setting, the swing in the shared gsrden and there’s loads to do and see in the area. We have been to this house at least six times. Jan 2010.
  12. Absolutely beautiful cottage. Photos did not do it justice at all. Jan 2010.
  13. Lovely comfy cottage, near to lots of places to visit. Brimham rocks and Fountains Abbey a must. July 2009.
  14. The cottage was very cosy and large for our family. Aug 2009.
  15. The accommodation was beautiful, with useful ideas and tips to improve our stay. We had a brilliant time and would love to return. The cottage, especially the kitchen, was superbly equiped and set up for children, including stairgates, highchairs, videos and cots. The garden and location were also fabulous. Just like home from home. March 2008.
  16. It was a tough choice going out to explore the wonderful Dales or staying in and relax, next time we will stay longer! March 2009.
  17. The house was full of character, very welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay. Feb 2008.
  18. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay, from the welcoming tea tray and the fire laid in the grate, to the plentiful towels and blankets and the peacefulness of the surrounding countryside. The cottage is homey and very comfortable, with the lived-in-and-loved quality common to many old houses. We were there at lambing time, so were entertained every day by conversations between the ewes and their lambs across the road. Our recommended day out: Malham Cove and Gordale Scar. March 2008.
  19. Ideal for a large family to enjoy the many attractions of the Dales, while having a warm comfotable base to return to. March 2007.
  20. Excellenty set up cottage in a beautiful setting which is secluded but with ready access to Skipton for shopping and to the Dales for some wonderful sightseeing. Sept 2008.
