It has been finished to a good standard, providing an ideal holiday retreat with a roll top bath and electric coal effect fire for those cosy winter evenings. Set in the hamlet of Nottington, between Dorchester and Weymouth, it is surrounded by the unspoilt Dorset coastline and countryside. Bustling Weymouth is a short drive away with shops, restaurants and sandy beach and a little further are Portland, Chesil, Abbotsbury, Bridport, Lyme Regis and Isle of Purbeck. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Ground floor: Living room with French doors/dining area/kitchen. Utility room (owner has own access). First floor: 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with roll-top bath, shower cubicle and toilet.

Electric woodburner in living room included. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. DVD. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine and tumble dryer in shared utility. Shared use of owner’s freezer on request. Large shared garden with patio and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (1 car). No smoking. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Very cosy and welcoming cottage and owner. In the country, but near to everything, brilliant place to stay. ’The Heritage’ restaurant is a must for a lovely relaxed friendly and excellent meal. The only reason we would not return is because we don’t like to spoil our wonderful memories! Aug 2011.
  2. This was a lovely rural location but at the same time not far from anywhere with a car. We found it very comfortable. The owner was away at the time but I’m sure they would of been no trouble reading other visitors comments. May 2011.
  3. Very comfortable and clean in a good location for exploring all of Dorset. Really excellent bathroom facilities and pleasant garden for occupants use. Quite a few good places to eat nearby at reasonable prices. June 2011.
  4. Perfect for two. Lovely bathroom and the kitchen had everything we needed. Quiet location with good walks close by. Within easy reach of Weymouth and Dorchester. April 2011.

  6. General maintenance needed but generally very comfortable. Pub and shop not as near as expected. Very nice owner and pretty garden. May 2010.
  7. Comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Warm, cosy and well equipped cottage. Liked separate utility room, very useful in wet weather. Nov 2009.
  8. The location was idyllic. There were walks along the River Wey that were literally at the cottage doorstep. It was a convenient location to everything in the Dorchester/Weymouth area and along the south coast (now known as Jurassic coast). The bathroom was lovely and the bed most comfortable. After a day out we could return to a warm and cosy fireplace. We spent two weeks there and plan on returning next year. Oct 2009.
  9. It was peaceful without being isolated. Within easy reach of Weymouth. Lovely countryside and plenty of walk’s all around. Sept 2009.
  10. It was lovely and the garden was beautiful. Sept 2009.
  11. Lovely cottage with good amenities. Location was very peaceful and we very much enjoyed the time we spent there. Aug 2009.
  12. The cottage is well positioned for exploring Dorset and provided comfortable accommodation, particularly the bathroom. June 2009.
  13. The Smugglers Inn, good food and lovely setting, walk from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door (very steep but view made it so worth the effort) . Easy access to Weymouth, would have liked more info re facilities, e.g supermarket, garage, places to eat etc. July 2009.
  14. The owner was very helpful and the cottage had everything we needed to cater for ourselves for the week. The leaflets about local attractions and takeaways were also very helpful. Sept 2008.
