Property Description

Set in picturesque countryside, this 17th-century barn has been sympathetically converted using traditional materials but providing modern amenities, and wi-fi is available if required at the owner’s property, which is adjacent. The holiday cottages (refs OSX and OSY) are set on the edges of 6 acres of uncultivated meadow which is bounded by the River Annell, a haven for wildlife and humans, and with no street-lighting in the vicinity the area is perfect for star-gazing. There are free-range hens, sometimes pigs too, which all appreciate visitors whilst the local population of buzzards and kites constantly survey the whole area. There are enormous opportunities for outdoors pursuits and activities: walking, horse riding, mountain biking and cycling – Brechfa, 5 miles; fishing, both sea and freshwater; Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mines – 3 miles; Aberglasney, National Botanical Gardens of Wales, west coast beaches and Brecon Beacons for walking and scenery are also easily reached. Llandeilo, Lampeter and Llandovery are all 11 miles away with galleries, numerous small retailers, grocery shopping and take-aways. Local shop and excellent pubs within a 5-mille radius.

We found lots to do in the surrounding area - castles, gardens, forest walks, even visiting a disused gold mine! Enjoyed the tame peacock who hung around outside, too. Sept 2011.

  5. A very well kept, thoughtfully designed property with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Idyllic location with a meadow and stream nearby (part of the owner’s property). This was a bonus for our children (12 & 7) who were able to play safely away from any traffic. The owners were very pleasant and welcoming but gave us privacy too. Highly recommended property and location. May 2011.

  8. Very lovely part of Wales. Peaceful and relaxing. The accommodation was very clean and well provided. The barn conversion was very very sympathetic and the area was very quiet. The outside seating area was screened from the next door property giving privacy. The owners were very helpful. July 2009.
