Property Description

This delightful and cosy, single-storey, detached holiday cottage has been furnished to a high standard and has pleasant views across open countryside. It sits on the edge of the village, on the line of Hadrian’s Wall, with the National Walking Trail passing within 100 yards of the doorstep. It is ideally situated for exploring the National Parks of Northumberland and the Lake District, and the scenery and walking surrounding the cottage are superb. The Pennine Way is just 2 miles away and the beautiful lakes and fells of both parks are easily accessible. Scotland’s ‘Riever’ country, historic Carlisle and Hexham are all within a short, scenic drive and fishing can be arranged locally. Nearest pub 300 yards serves real ales and food.

  4. Gap Cottage is in a quiet location on the outskirts of Gilsland village. It is very well equipped and comfortable; everything that you might need has been provided, there is even a pair of binoculars! There is a wonderful view of the Walltown Crags from the living room - unfortunately during my stay the wet weather meant they weren’t always visible. I was in the area for a walking holiday and the cottage was a lovely place to get back to at the end of each day. There is beautiful countryside within easy reach, anybody new to the area will be spoilt for choice of places to visit. Oct 2011.

  6. This property is perfect for couples (like ourselves) or for a group of three, there is plenty of space for all. It is spotlessly clean, is warm and has all mod cons including lovely bedding and towels! We had fabulous walks from the doorstep and loved every minute of our stay. We would definitely recommend Gap Cottage to anyone who wants a cosy and comfortable base from which to explore Hadrians Wall country. April 2011.
