Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. This is a delightfully remote cottage above Eskdale. We enjoyed the solitude, spectacular views and local walks. The walks guide in the property is very optimistic about the walking skills of guests. I am a reasonably fit active walker of 66 who coped with it all, but the pub walk must be 2 miles each way on a fair old hill- not for oldies, not for kids - the guide would indicate otherwise. The top of Stanley Force is positively dangerous with no fence. We were surrounded by hundreds of sheep- great. Super stay! August 2012.
  2. We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings in a part of the lakes we had never been to before. The scenery is amazing and the walks in the surrounding area are lovely ranging from long and short and lots starting from the cottage itself. The cottage itself was great, we loved cooking using the aga!!! and having a real fire!! It is a bit far from the central lakes like windermere but we loved it and had a fantastic holiday. May 2012.
  3. We first went to Ganny house 10 years ago and keep returning- we always have a fantastic time whatever the weather! Aug 2011.
  4. Great location if you have a 4x4 to get to the house - the track/road leading to the house is full of stones that knock the underside of the car. Aga was wonderful and made kitchen lovely and cosy. House overall was great - garden was lovely, views spectacular and holiday was very relaxing. Would like to visit again if they would accept more than 1 small dog! June 2011.
  5. Wonderful place if you want to be in the wild and the AGA cooker a special feature. All well organised and clean. Be prepared to have to go some distance for any shopping or place to eat and drink. April 2011.
  6. Beautiful location but remote with stunning veiws(weather permitting). Truly quiet old fashioned lake district. Oct 2010.
  7. The furnishing were pleasant, the equipment was good and in working order, the instruction notices were all in a welcoming and helpful manner, the Aga was good, the space was adequate for number of people, the parking was good and the setting was stunning. Sept 2010.
  8. Ganny House is an ideal base for walking in the more picturesque parts of the Lake District either directly from the front door or via a short car ride. Would love to go back in the winter as the Aga and multi fuel stove keep the whole house warm and would be great for drying wet clothes / boots. Only one rug so easy to keep clean. Part of an isolated small farmstead of holiday lets / second homes reached by gated track which would most likely need a 4x4 in bad weather. A lovely place, full of character which was missed when we left. July 2010.
  9. The area and seclusion of the cottage. Just perfect. June 2010.
  10. Ganny House provided all that we needed for a ’get away from it all’ holiday in an unspoilt part of the Lake District. July 2009.
  11. Very nice cottage with awesome views and excellent walks straight from the front door. Great fun and really nice to stay in such a remote location. July 2009.
  12. Stunning location. July 2009.
  13. Fantastic remote cottage, perfect for the get away from it all holiday, our second time there and will definitely be booking up to go back in the future. March 2009.
  14. We prefer slightly out of the way properties and the location of Ganny House is fabulous particular if the clouds lift - but then this is the Lake District! Feb 2009.
  15. This was one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. The lovely aga and fire made it very cosy and the location was outstanding. July 2008.
  16. Great location - felt as if we were in the ’real’ Lake District. Lovely cottage, and well equipped, with easy, safe running around for the children on our doorstep. May 2008.
  17. Ganny House suited us very well. The living accommodation was spacious and comfortable (despite the super-abundance of artificial flowers). The views are spectacular and the walks from the cottage excellent. June 2008.
  18. A real old country cottage set in the most beautiful and quiet Lakeland countryside. We didn’t need to take the car in 4 days of walking, just stepped out of the front door. Good pubs/meals few miles away by car. We hope to book again in the near future. Recommended if you want to get away from it all, we did! Sept 2008.
  19. Fabulous location, comfortable clean and spacious accommodation. Narrow bath. Aga with overhead drying rack made drying clothes a doddle. Local shops had an amazingly good stock and variety of food. Aug 2006.
