Property Description

Set on the shores of Loch Lochy, with breathtaking views across to Ben Nevis and the Aonach Mor mountains, this detached log home is furnished to a wonderful standard. Gairlochy Bay is set in a stunning location, accessed via a gravelled forest track, and guests can fish from the decking, watch the boats sail through the Caledonian Canal or wander around a network of paths and shoreline. For those wishing to get out and about it is an excellent base to explore the Highlands and the Western Isles, known for its magnificent scenery and abundance of wildlife. Fort William is the nearest town with an array of shops, bars and restaurants whilst Inverness and Oban are also easily reached. The local scenery has been used as the backdrop for many well known films, such as Braveheart and Rob Roy. Visitors can also take the steam train to Mallaig passing Glenfinnan Viaduct as depicted in one of the Harry Potters movies, the gondola up the Nevis mountain range or visit the Loch Ness monster. Outdoor activities include skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, walking, climbing, horse riding, golf and a variety of watersports. There are plenty of beautiful gardens and ruined castles to be visited and the are is famous for its rich historical legacy. Shop and pub 3 miles.

  1. The property has a lovely setting nestled next to the locks which gives excellent viewing of the boats using the canal which the children loved to watch. The property itself is excellent with everything you could wish for. The children enjoyed the fact that their was a tv in their bedrooms so they could lie in bed in the morning and watch what they wanted which meant a nice chilled morning for Mum and Dad. The surrounding area is lovely with lots of things to do. June 2012.

  7. Fabulous venue. We loved the Caledonian canal and watching the boats. We even had one there our selves. The facilities are fabulous, the lighting is fabulous, the beds are fabulous, the flat screen is fabulous. What more can I say? It was great despite the dubious weather.   9. The views from the property are outstanding and it is well located for touring the area or for just relaxing watching the boats go by. The standard of the accommodation is excellent. The owner does provide bottled water on arrival as the tap water is somewhat of an acquired taste but we found that we had to buy extra water during our stay so we would recommend bringing some with you.   17. This is a new property, swiss style pine chalet, beautifully decorated with superb lighting. The views are wonderful of Loch Lochy and Ben Nevis and on wet days the enormous plasma screen is ideal. July 2010.
