Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. We were thrilled with our holiday accommodation. The house was cosy, comfortable yet also spacious. It was tastefully furnished and decorated with stylish touches. The kitchen was everything one could hope for in a country property with beamed ceilings, arga and space for 12 around the large wooden tables. Our host thoughtfully and promptly responded to our requests as did the helpful care-taker and we were made to feel very welcome. With regard to bedrooms we were spoilt for choice and what can I say about the hot tub other than wow. As walkers we were occupied come rain or shine ascending the fells above Wast water, walking along the coastal paths near Bootle and exploring Eskdale. We enjoyed a fabulous meal all home cooked with local produce at the the local pub the Cow which I would recommend. Our stay was out of season so local amenities were closed which we anticipated so was fine. In summer there is probably plenty to see and do locally if walking is not your thing. Thanks to all we hope to return.Guests Feb 25th for one week. March 2012.
  2. Although a bit remote (car needed), the property is spacious and the bedrooms all a good size and decorated lovely. The hot tub was a delight on the cold winter’s nights we were there. The cottage was very homely and pleny of walks for our pet dogs. Feb 2012.
  3. The side garden and stream were an added bonus as we took our Labrador and she loved it in the stream. The remote location suited us and the size of the farmhouse was just right for our party of 11 and dog. The hot tub was appreciated and was kept clean by the caretaker. April 2011.
  4. Very much a home from home. Oct 2010.
  5. Great location. Sep 2010.
  6. Foldgate is very spacious with a wide choice of areas for relaxing and eating. There are a total of four bathrooms, three of them shower rooms, making it ideal for family or group holidays. The kitchen is wonderful with its huge table - perfect for family meals. Having a hot tub is a real bonus, much better than a swimming-pool in not-so-wonderful weather. July 2010.
  7. Nice sized but quite remote. April 2010.
  8. This is our 4th December cottage holiday and our range of "must have" criterea increases each time. This one was a "bit rural" for some in our party, but was great for us. I loved the size of the property - the rooms are big and there is plenty of room. The hot tub is fantastic and the aga is wonderful too. All in all it was just a very fitting property. The only bit we really didn’t like was there wasn’t any "off lead" dog walking around the cottage as there were too many sheep. Dec 2009.
  9. Plenty of room to spread out, excellent position, remote, but within easy reach of amenities and attractions. Sept 2009.
  10. Perfect venue for 10 friends (& the dogs) to escape to the country, do as much or as little as you like and no matter the weather have a generally fabulous time. The caretaker was friendly, helpful and informative and left us to enjoy our brief but extremely enjoyable time at Foldgate. Thank you. Feb 2009.
  11. Hot tub was great. Place was clean and well stocked. July 2009.
  12. Beautiful setting, peaceful, great hot tub. Initially out in the sticks but really not far from anywhere else if you have a car. The pub was miles away, but to fair, with the right setting, right company, plenty of food and drink, you dont need a pub. Take your own firewood if poss, its not advertised anywhere as to where you can purchase it, plus on the first night there isn’t enough for two fires and it wouldn’t be enough for the evening anyway. Jan 2009.
  13. We had a wonderful time and the welcome was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the hot tub was great fun. March 2008.
  14. Much bigger than we expected! Housed 8 girls very well for the weekend, we each had own own bed too! Feb 2008.
  15. The house was extremely well equipped, and although the weather was generally poor during our stay, we got good use out of the fantastic hot tub on our first day. The surrounding area is wonderful and you really do feel like you are in the middle of no where in your own private hideaway! June 2008.
  16. The hot tub was a real winner. The owner was friendly and helpful and the setting was beautiful. Oct 2007.
  17. Excellent accommodation, with everything that we could possibly need. Oct 2007.
  18. My party had a relaxing time, for which I feel Fold Gate cottage was very suitable at for the time of year (December). The Open fire places gave the cottage a very cosy warm feel and were a highlight. Also, a dip in the hot tub under the stars is also recommended. All in all a very nice place for our break. Dec 2007.
