This excellent property stands detached amid its own enclosed gardens, in a peaceful setting in the attractive Shropshire village of Baschurch. Spacious rooms and a full range of leisure amenities make it an excellent choice for large family holidays or group gatherings whatever the season. Close to the village church, the house is also conveniently located within walking distance of a range of shops and the village pub.
Just 9 miles north west of historic Shrewsbury and close to the Welsh Borders, Field House stands in an ideal position for exploring and sightseeing within this lovely region. England’s largest inland county, Shropshire remains one of the country’s least populated and unspoilt landscapes, where bustling ancient market towns lie encompassed by acres of countryside. This is an area immersed in history, with Domesday Book associations; noteworthy castles include the English Heritage castle at nearby Moreton Corbet, the hilltop remains at Montgomery and Clun to the south, and of course the splendid sandstone fortifications which dominate the centre of Shrewsbury. Whether you crave nightlife, history, culture or shopping, nearby towns have plenty to offer all tastes and ages. Oswestry boasts the legendary King Oswald’s Well, said to have curative powers, and nearby Wem has plenty of rustic pubs in which to sample the local ales; the 200-year-old ale brewing tradition can still be observed at Wem’s Hanby Ales brewery. Other notable attractions include Hawkston Historic Park and Follies, Wroxeter Roman City, Hodnet Hall Gardens and Attingham Park (NT). Go karting, paint balling and quad biking are available in the local area, depending on the season. Shops ¼ mile, pub 300 yards.

  1. Field House was perfect for our family. Our holiday was a great success in spite of dreadful weather as the use of the indoor pool, gym etc was a god send. Weather did not allow us to explore the lovely countryside otherwise we were very satisfied. June 2012.
  2. We stayed here last year too, we are a group of 13/14 girls who go away each year for an extended girlie weekend. Our ages range from 16 to 60 and we all loved it here. Everything you could possibly need is provided from cutlery to safety gates to towels, dressing gowns it’s fantastic. I take my dog and the garden is secure (ish), a dog from next door did keep popping through the hedge but was soon retrieved and not a problem. We had probably the best weather we have had this year, the sun shone non stop - amazing! May 2012.

  4. This Property is spacious, spotlessly clean and well looked after. The decor and bathrooms are rather dated, but we could not complain at all since everything had been very well cared for and maintained. The pool is huge and great fun, and the size of this property is brilliant if there are a lot of couples, with 6 separate bedrooms. Everything was provided from champagne glasses to bathrobes and we did not want for anything, we easily prepared meals in the well equipped kitchen. The local pub and restaurant, the New Inn, was also excellent and really looked after us and went the extra mile for a special birthday celebration. I would suggest taking your own ipod dock etc though, since the stereo equipment was a bit old and didn’t account for mp3 players. (was CD changer & tape decks!). March 2012.

  6. The house was superb - we were very well provided for with every thing you could wish . Kitchen very well appointed. Highlight of the weekend for all was the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Superb and very clean. The weekend was to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday celebrations and she really enjoyed swimming having not been for a while! Local pub about 300 yards from the house - lovely choice of local beer and cider - a super quiet and friendly village pub. June 2011.
  7. Field House is a tardis-like property with a well equipped kitchen, spacious dining room and plenty of space for people to spread out and not be on top of each other. The swimming pool was fabulous, the terrace and garden brilliant if its sunny. The New Inn (just round the corner) does a very decent Sunday lunch. All in all a great place to stay. April 2011.

The stables leisure complex is very nice indeed, especially for the children, with a beautiful large swimming pool with plenty of towels and robes. The owner lives adjacent and is extremely friendly and helpful. July 2010.
