Property Description

This comfortable, single storey holiday cottage is set on the edge of an unspoilt village and has its own large, south-facing garden. To take advantage of this aspect, solar panels have been installed to reduce the cottage’s dependence on oil. Originally built for a sea captain returning home from the war, the cottage offers visitors wonderful walking from the doorstep. Bucknell offers village shops, an inn and a stream with ducks within walking distance, as well as, surprisingly, a stop on the Heart of Wales Railway Line. Knighton, on Offa’s Dyke, 5 miles, medieval Ludlow, with its castle and town square, is 12 miles. Cycle hire locally. Shop and pub 500 yards.

All on ground floor: Living room. Dining room. Kitchen. 3 bedrooms: 2 double, (one 4ft), 1 single. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Separate toilet.

Open fire in living room included. Oil central heating, electric heaters, electricity and bed linen included. Travel cot. High chair. Freeview TV. DVD. Video. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi.Telephone-honesty box. Terrace and furniture. Parking.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Situated in south west Shropshire, surrounded with wooded hills and valleys, the location was excellent. It was set in its own grounds with a well kept garden and orchard. The structure of the cottage was of a particular period retaining many original features with a comfortable modern modifications. The only fault we could find was the poor mobile phone signal. May 2012.
  2. This was a real home from home and just the relaxing experience we needed. April 2012.
  3. We have stayed in this property for the last 12 years during May and will be going back hopefully for years to come. It is a real home from home. May 2012.
  4. Fiddlers Green is a delight! It’s Fifties time-warp with modern comforts and very well looked after by the owners. There are walks you can do direct from the cottage if you’re a fresh air fiend and the delights of Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Hereford are not too far away for the shops. The area has lots of National Trust properties/sites so there is something for everyone. Aug 2011.
  5. A really homely property in a very quiet village. The petrol station is the best place for emergency supplies, newspapers etc and they are very helpful. Knighton is the nearest place for day to day supplies and a car is essential. Walking is very good (if hilly) and there is too much to see in the vicinty (30 miles) for just one week. June 2011.
  6. We found the cottage to be very clean and comfortable. Being single storey, it was ideal for our young children, as was the lovely secure garden. The surrounding area had a wealth of places to visit and some lovely local walks. The weather was excellent and we had a great week. We would definitely return to this property. April 2011.
  7. Fiddler’s green was like a trip back in time for us to our childhood but with a few mod cons. We had a wonderful holiday and I’d recommend it to all. May 2011.
  8. Well presented cottage with everything provided (apart from towels). Massive beautiful garden with hills all around. Excellent heating and hot water facilities in an extremely large and spacious cottage. Suits all age groups as there is something to do for all. Would love to go back and highly recommend. Plenty of walks around the village and along the river. Petrol station, shop and butchers in the village. Central location so near many places. April 2011.
  9. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Everything spotless and all we could have wanted or needed was provided. Lovely garden. Oct 2010.
  10. Nice cottage with lovely self contained garden for the children to play in. Oct 2010.
  11. It was a little old fashioned but very comfortable, spacious and warm with heating coming on automatically twice a day and facility for an extra hour if needed. Very well equipped. Sept 2010.
  12. Lovely setting and a very nice large garden. The cottage has a quaint 1950s feel, but fully equipped. Aug 2010.
  13. Lovely clean property, everything you could ask for in respect of equipment. July 2010.
  14. This is the 11th time we’ve stayed in this property and keep going back there because it’s a real home from home. May 2010.
  15. Very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. We took my mother (90) and it was very suitable - even puzzles etc. she could occupy herself with when we walked. May 2010.
  16. Excellent location. Spacious. Extremely clean. Very comfortable. The best and most generously stocked of all the cottages we have visited. April 2010.
  17. We liked the original 1950s decor and general homeliness. The garden is lovely and the position great. April 2010.
  18. Situated in a quiet location in a convenient position with lots of lovely walks straight from the door, the accommodation was spotlessley clean. Being all on one level it is excellent for those who have problems with stairs or need to use a wheelchair. April 2009.
  19. Felt much more personal than many properties, with good collection of holiday reading books and music. Oct 2008.
  20. This is a charming country property, very obviously previously someone’s main residence, so is very well equipped and thought out. Traditional but nevertheless comfortable and in a charming and peaceful location. Plenty to do in all weathers within easy distance by train or car, and loads of good walking/exploring for all the family. May 2007.
