Property Description

Set in 2.5 acres of beautiful natural grounds and woodland, this charming wooden holiday lodge has its own private garden and shared use of an indoor heated plunge pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and table tennis. Right on the doorstep of the magnificent Langdales, with Ambleside, 2.5 miles and Coniston, 8 miles. It is a perfect base for touring and exploring the footpaths in the area with numerous woodland and hill walks straight from the door. The Lake District Visitor Centre near Windermere is worth a visit, as is the Beatrix Potter Exhibition at Bowness. Great for wildlife lovers, with deer and other animals freely wandering through this small, select woodland retreat. Small on-site shop. Pub and restaurant 0.5 miles.

Three steps from car park to entrance. Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 bunk (2ft 6in for children). Shower room with toilet.

Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Playstation. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Shared laundry room with coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer. Dishwasher. Wi-fi (in adjacent pool hall). Private garden with furniture. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). Shared indoor swimming pool (3.6m x 6m, depth 1.2m), Jacuzzi and sauna, March-mid November. No smoking. NB: Unfenced pond in grounds.

  1. Brilliant location to explore the area suitable for all due to amount of easy walks, and more challenging ones on the doorstep. Also if you just want to get away from it all the views on and near the site, and facilities are just enough to just relax. We had regular visitors of a badger, deer, rabbits, ducks and other birds including a beautiful Jay in the small pleasant garden outside the lounge French doors. It was a regular home from home and I would certainly revisit again. Wonderful times ....I could go on. March 2012.
  2. Elterwater is a serviceable, clean, practical mobile home unit, nicely furnished (definitely the posh end of the mobile home unit options - this is no caravan). The site is quite large but remains quiet, and it seems hardly anyone uses the leisure complex (very small pool, jacuzzi, sauna) so we had it to ourselves most days (note we visited off-season). One tiny gripe, and it is tiny, there is no wifi in the unit, but you only have to walk next door to the leisure complex for this. Also, a small sharp knife in the kitchen would be nice. Thank you for the excellent information provided; we worked through most of the walk and cycle routes provided over the week. Thanks also for allowing our pet hawk to stay. She loved the little garden area. March 2012.

  4. We really loved the location and the cabin. It was brilliant for the two of us. Having discovered the indoor pool we had a swim every evening and had it all to ourselves. Wonderful despite the tail-end of Hurricane Katrina! Sept 2011.
  5. We had a lovely holiday @ Elterwater. It was our 1st family holiday to the Lake District. The cottage was very homely and spacious. July2011.
  6. Very comfortable, especially so as we have a dog who suffers badly with arthritis, so not too many steps for her, also were able to walk her on site as she can’t walk very far. May 2011.
  7. The property was very clean & well equipped. Value for money was excellent & I would recommend to any one. We’ll be definitely going back. Next time in summer hopefully. Weather wasn’t brilliant, but that didn’t stop us getting out & having a very relaxing few days away. March 2011.
