Property Description

Set within the heart of Snowdonia, this large detached holiday property is conveniently set next to a main road and is ideal for exploring the Snowdonia National Park. Dolwyddelan has an historic castle and a tiny 14th century church, and there are beautiful walks for all abilities from the door including one to the summit of Moel Siabod, the mountain that towers above the village. Dolwyddelan is 5 miles from Betws-y-Coed, Gateway to Snowdonia, with its range of interesting shops, miniature railway and for the thrill seekers Treetop Adventure high ropes course. From Dolwyddelan, take the train along the scenic Conwy Valley line to Llandudno and the famous Great Orme with its cable car and tramway. As well as a full range of shops, Llandudno is home to Venue Cymru which hosts visiting shows from the West End. In the other direction is the dramatic slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, home to the Llechwedd Slate Caverns where you can travel deep underground to experience the world of the Victorian slate miner. The famous Ffestiniog Railway also runs from here through stunning scenery down to the sea at Porthmadog. Visit the beaches on the west coast, Llanberis, Caernarfon and the Conwy Valley. At nearby Penmachno is the idyllic Ty Mawr Wybrnant (NT), situated in a peaceful valley and the birthplace of Bishop William Morgan who translated the bible into Welsh. Also in Penmachno is the Marin Bike Trail, and this is a great way of exploring the Gwydyr Forest Park with bike hire available in Betws-y-Coed. Just over the mountain is Capel Curig, home to the National Mountaineering Centre with plenty of outdoor activities for all. Horse riding nearby. Shop and pub 100 yards.

Ground floor: Living room. Second living room. Dining room. Kitchen. First floor: 4 bedrooms: 2 double, one with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 twin with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 bunk with additional bunk. Bathroom with toilet.

  1. We was due to go camping with a party of10 and due to the lovely uk weather had to change our plans at last minute. All I can say is I’m glad we changed our plans... The cottage was fantastic. Lovely stunning area, easy to find, the property was fantastic, set out for holiday rental and even with the cottage full with 10 people there was plenty of space for all but yet it cosy. It was lovely way to let my family spend time together. We are already talking about staying again. June 2012.
  2. Property was great although could have a few more bits to help with cooking as could not find grill tray. Also no towels were provided. Nov 2011.
  3. The property was well located near Betws-y-Coed and a short drive to Snowden and also the Marin mountain bike trail. The village was very pleasant and friendly with some great advice provided in the Spa shop & Pub which proved highly valuable. The house itself was clean & spacious with reasonable sized bedrooms, a good sized dining room, and living rooms albeit some modernisation would not go amiss. June 2011.
  4. We had an excellent time - the cottage is well maintained and is very comfortable, particularly downstairs. It was a bit of a squeeze for ten of us upstairs, but wasn’t a problem for us. The local pub is lovely and very friendly. June 2011.
  5. Spacious and comfortable for a large group. Sept 2010.
  6. Brilliant location, superb for a large family. Aug 2010.
  7. Great base for walking in Snowdonia - all central peaks are within easy driving distance. Helpful and friendly staff in nearby Spar and pub. May 2009.
  8. Comfortable and warm, suitable for a our group of 8. Sept 2008.
  9. The cottage suited us (6 senior walkers) very well. May 2008.
  10. The cottage was very well maintained and presented. We collected the keys from the local shop where we were greeted warmly. Sept 2007.
  11. Spacious property, with convenient spar nearby. Friendly quiet pub a short walk away and excellent location for touring or walking in Snowdonia. A highly enjoyable stay! May 2007.
