Egmont Farm - Egmont Farmhouse

| Ref: 28501
Grade 3 Star rating

These two properties make an ideal holiday destination for couples and are set in 5 acres of farmland, complete with livery and chickens. Egmont Lodge (ref 30430) and The Hayloft (ref 27032) are both detached lodges adjacent to the owner’s home, complete with shared use of a hot tub! An ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside including the medieval Cinque Port town of Rye with its cobbled streets, restaurants, tea rooms, art galleries and a well-known hat shop which created the wonderful hats in the film ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’! The Rother Valley also offers a plethora of walking and cycling opportunities - bring your own bikes or hire them locally. Within walking distance is the Kent and East Sussex Vintage Steam Railway which chugs its way through 101/2 miles of beautiful countryside enabling you to visit Tenterden, also known as ‘The Jewel of the Weald’, and once another thriving Cinque Port Town but now 10 miles inland from the sea! At the other end of the line is the iconic fairy-tale moated castle Bodiam, which has changed little in 600 years. Enjoy a lazy summer afternoon soaking up the tranquillity of the River Rother and hire a rowing boat, glide effortlessly past the reed beds and spot a kingfisher or heron. For the young at heart don’t miss probably the finest private collection of antique pedal cars in Europe at The Mill Toy and Pedal Car Museum, also within walking distance. The romantic recreation of a medieval manor house at Great Dixter and its beautiful gardens are worth a visit. No holiday would be complete without a trip to the vast expanse of golden sand dunes at Camber, glorious in the sunshine, and invigorating when the sea breezes blow. You could even try your hand at kite-surfing! The properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 4 people (2 couples). Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
