Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. This was a fantastic cottage/farm. Would recommend to anyone wishing to have a rural break. The children loved the walks along the river and fields especially the visit to Hamsterley forest. Would love to visit again. An ideal location not too far from shops yet with fantastic views of the countryside. Definitely recommend. June 2012.
  2. Really lovely cottage and great location for walking and visting local attractions. Weardale is beautiful. August 2011.
  3. If you’re looking for a relaxing, get away from it all holiday this property fits the bill. We enjoyed the local walks, paddling tin the streams with our 3 children. There’s so much to do we will be heading back next year! July 2011.
  4. The best cottage we’ve ever stayed in! It’s ideally located - tucked away at the end of a farm track and wonderfully isolated, with panoramic sunrises and sunsets, but only a few minutes’ walk from a well-stocked Co-Op and the excellent food and hospitality of the Black Bull, (don’t miss their pizza night on Wednesdays!). There are beautiful walks from the door of the cottage in the stunning countryside of Weardale and it’s also within easy reach of Beamish Mining Museum, Durham and Newcastle. The amenities are excellent - we loved the power shower! - and our little boy and two dogs had great fun watching the rabbits in the garden every morning and evening. We had a fantastic week and would definitely go back to this cottage again - thank you! July 2011.
  5. Absolutely beautiful location - the best we’ve stayed in. April 2011.
  6. This was a lovely place. The one drawback is the gated road - easier if you have a passenger of course. Everything else was terrific - a comfortable cottage in a beautiful rural location yet close to the lovely towns of Stanhope, Wolsingham and Frosterley. Weardale is perfect if you love Great British countryside and its proximity to Durham and the cities of the North East enables you to do loads. Our problem was - a week was not enough. So we’ve booked to go for a fortnight next year!!! April 2011.
  7. At dusk when we arrived and one of the owners was waiting to greet us and made us feel very welcome. The farm is set in a very scenic location with lots of walking on the door step. The Black Bull pub is a a 10 minute walk away and well worth a visit or two, the owner and staff are very freindly, the food is excellent and our little dog was made very welcome by all. It is a great location for people who like relaxing, walking, taking photographs, or just to escape the the hurly burly of modern living. A very enjoyable holiday for us and our little dog. The road up to the farm is a single track and can be a bit daunting at first sight but its ok once youve used it. A very enjoyable holiday. 10 out of 10. Nov 2010.
  8. A lovely cottage which contained everything we could have asked for. Very spacious, very clean and very homely. The gardens were wonderful with beautiful views wherever we turned. Peaceful and tranquil, surrounded by rabbits, sheep and pheasants. Aug 2010.
  9. The owner had fresh flowers in two rooms and a pint of milk and some teabags were left for us. It was clean and had all we needed. It had more than we expected as the dishwasher had been left out of the description. Aug 2010.
  10. Secluded location. Very welcoming owner. July 2010.
  11. A fantastic cottage in a gorgeous location, near to a great pub, walking from the door and great countryside.. Would highly reccomend this cottage is you like a quiet and relaxing holiday. May 2010.
  12. Lovely location - superb views - on it’s own but not isolated. Great for dogs. Ideal choice for couple or family. Warm and comfortable. Oct 2009.
  13. The cottage was very clean, warm and welcoming. The setting was fabulous - everything that the brochure said and more. Oct 2009.
  14. The property was in a lovely secluded area, exactly as described, however we did discover when we arrived that the property also had a lovely back garden, not advertised, this was a real bonus and great for the dogs. Sept 2009.
  15. It had a dishwasher which was a pleasant surprise as it was not mentioned on the details. Lovely peaceful location with great views. Aug 2009.
  16. Weardale is a gorgeous undiscovered area. This house is perfect if you like to be surrounded by open countryside. You feel a very long way from anything - but can stroll down to the local pub in five minutes. Excellent walks - some straight from the cottage.. Spacious, comfortable, homely property. Lovely big windows to look out onto delightful scenery. Aug 2009.
  17. The weather had been very wet before we arrived so a little muddy. You do need boots! Black Bull pub(nearest) serves great meals but Thursday to Sunday only! The railway runs between 3 villages at present but will be extending this summer. Lovely ride! The Tourist Information centre in Stanhope are very helpful. . It was a perfect hideaway. The owner was there to greet us and the cottage had all you needed for a holiday and those helpful extras too! We loved the fact that you could go from the house and walk for several miles. It has a lovely back garden, not shown on the website but a definite plus! July 2009.
  18. A lovely friendly house. Warm and very well kept and in idyllic surroundings A1! May 2009.
  19. Wonderful panoramic views and very peaceful. Dec 2008.
  20. Very peaceful location with excellent walks direct from the door. Beautiful views in every direction. Everything you could need inside the property also. Aug 2008.
