Property Description

In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, these four very comfortable holiday cottages enjoy far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Laundry Cottage and Dunmore Bothy are both detached, single-storey cottages, whilst Stable Cottage, also single-storey, adjoins The Coach House, an impressive, 19th-century stone building retaining many of its original features. These smart colour co-ordinated properties have been furnished with rich luxury curtains and soft furnishing and each property has its own garden; visitors have access to a network of over 6 miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese. Boat trips can be arranged to fish for brown trout, as well as angling on the River Tay, with some of Scotland’s finest salmon fishing.
At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village (3 miles) is one of Perthshire’s gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes’ drive.
Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers – the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Shops 3 miles.

This property is close to Gleneagles where the 2014 Ryder Cup took place, come and play a round of golf all year round on this world-renowned course.

A detached, very comfortable, single-storey cottage. Cosy, open-plan living/dining room with open fire and well-fitted kitchen area. Double bedroom (5ft bed). Shower room with toilet.

  1. Dunmore Bothy is a wonderful place to escape to whether you’re on a romantic break, a mission to leave home and work far behind for a few days or if you just want somewhere to completely chill out and do nothing! Aug 2011.
  2. This is a great cottage to really get away from it all and chill out. The Bothy is on top of a hill where you are not overlooked. If you like peace, quiet, walking with abundant wildlife this is the place for you. The owner is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Dunkeld town is just a short drive away and they have everything you need whether you want to eat out or just buy food in, with an excellent Deli etc. The whole area has so much to offer. We have been going there for the last 4 years whenever we feel the need to get away from the rat race. Perth is just up the road or you can take the train to Glasgow, Edinburgh the list is endless there is something for everyone. June 2011.
  3. Open fire and quiet location. Oct 2010.
  4. Quietly situated in beautiful surroundings on a private estate. Oct 2010.
  5. The property was in a lovely quiet location with beautiful scenery and wildlife. The little extras like chocolate, wine and flowers was a lovely touch on arrival. As we took our spaniel it was great that we could walk all over the estate without even going anywhere (if you didn’t want to). Dunkeld itself has every thing you could want from places to eat to fish & chip shop. Dunkeld is a very excellent place to explore Scotland from without having to travel too far. I would really recommend the Bothy and Dunkeld. Sept 2010.
  6. Welcoming and cosy. Very comfortable bed. Loved the casserole dish. Sept 2010.
  7. Fabulous location - our 2 spaniels loved the estate. Well equipped, furnished and decorated property. Nice touches eg bottle of wine and flowers on arrival. Aug 2010.
  8. Fixtures and fittings were of a high quality and the owners had managed to have a lot of items placed in the cottage such as washing machine, tumble drier etc. Scenery and surroundings lovely and quiet. Very comfortable cottage. June 2010.
  9. Our 3rd visit, very small cottage but we love it, one bedroom, bathroom and living rm/kitchen & lovely views and garden. Probably needs freshening up fairly soon! June 2010.
  10. Well presented. Quality of the decoration excellent. Availability cutlery and crockery first class. May 2010.
  11. Absolutely beautiful setting - could not have asked for more. April 2010.
  12. The Bothy was very comfortable, tastefully decorated & furnished. The kitchen area contained everything needed. The very best was being able to explore the whole estate, we felt we had it all to ourselves. The wildlife was incredible & the people we did meet were so helpful in pointing different things out to us. Can’t wait to go back! April 2010.
  13. Dunmore bothy was great, it was very cosy, small but ample, everything you need is at hand, the log fire was tremendous, the tv was very small. March 2010.
  14. Good views. Excellent for walking. Good location for walking and surrounding area. Feb 2010.
  15. My wife and I were very happy with how clean the cottage was.And we did not find any spiders as my wife does not like them, our last holiday cottage was full of them booked through another company ( not any more)I have booked twice through English Country Cottages and they have been very clean places. June 2009.
  16. It would be useful if there was a freezer in the property. However, due to it’s size I don’t know where you would put one, it only needs to be a small one. This did not however detract from our holiday as it was such an excellent location and inviting bothy. May 2008.
  17. The property was excellent and met all our needs. it was quiet and was just what we were looking for. Its location was good for touring central Scotland. We will certainly book the cottage again when we return to this part of Scotland in a year or two’s time. Sept 2008.
  18. For dogs it’s great that it has a seperate entrance hall where they can use as a bedroom! Sept 2008.
  19. Lovely touches when we arrived - welcome bottle of wine and flowers and chocolates. Good stock of firewood and logs for open fire. Friendly and helpful owner, on the phone and in person. Very comfortable, quiet, beautifully furnished, and a couple of miles off the main road through the estate to get there. June 2008.
  20. A good place to escape. It is our second visit and intend to revisit. The area is spectacular and the owner is very friendly in an unassuming way. Nov 2007.
