Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Well equipped cottage with beautiful views. Very quiet location with sheep in the field behind. Logs for the wood burner are cheaper from the garages than any of the shops dotted around and buy a bag of kindling if you are going to use the wood burner. There is a small courtyard to the rear which is great if you are taking any dogs with you. March 2012.
  2. At last - no mobile signal, peace & quiet. Oct 2011.
  3. Cottage is a excellent base for local walks in a beautiful yet unknown part of the Lake District. Cosy and with everything you need. Local Pub exactly one mile was welcoming, okay food and good beer garden. Definitely worth a trip also to the Blacksmith Arms in Broughton Mills 3.5 miles away, lovely quaint pub with excellent food. Only downside for us was that the back yard was a bit small for a dog and a bit shady. July 2011.
  4. We loved our holiday in this beautiful cottage, and didn’t want to leave. The owners are very welcoming, and the cottage was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had logs and coal provided for the lovely log burning stove. The owners sell fresh, free-range eggs from their farm, and I have to say they are the best we have ever tasted. Even our ’reluctant egg-eater’ children liked them!! We can recommend the 20 minute stroll to the Newfield Inn in nearby Seathwaite. The meals are fabulous and very reasonably priced, and my prawn salad was HUGE! Just what you need after a hard day’s walking! There are also some very pretty waterfalls in Seathwaite which are worth the walk too. Whilst on our holiday, we walked up to Seathwaite Tarn from the cottage, which is strenuous in parts, but worth it. There are quite a few good walks right from the door so you don’t even have to move your car. If you don’t mind a short drive, we walked up and over Harter Fell to the Hardknott Roman Fort, which was a good, leg-aching walk, but very worth it. We parked at Birks Bridge, which is free to use. Another activity we can recommend is hiring a rowing boat for the day on Coniston Water. We had glorious weather on that day, and re-enacted Swallows and Amazons by mooring up and having our picnic on the island. We parked our car at the local school, which only charges £2 for the whole day - an absolute bargain! This was a really wonderful family holiday, made all the lovelier by having such a beautiful cottage to return to at the end of each day. We gave it ten out of ten! June 2011.
  5. A lovely cottage in a very beautiful location. It was very remote however so be prepared for a 5 mile drive from the main road. Scenary is outstanding around cottage, lovely local walks. Owners very friendly, cottage well equipped and very clean. Would go there again. May 2011.
  6. The approach road to the cottage is extremely narrow, but believe in the directions and keep on going. When you get there you are in a lovely quiet and beautiful spot. It will certainly be worth it! April 2011.
  7. Our stay in Duddon View was truly lovely. If you want a very rural location then this is it. We were fortunate enough to have good weather all week which is pretty good for February and walking conditions were perfect. My dog loved it! The log burner was lovely and we lit it every night. The only thing we said that could have been provided was a mirror in the second bedroom but this is not a complaint the cottage was beautiful. Feb 2011.
  8. Fantastic locastion, away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas of the lake district. Beautiful cottage just what you’d expect in the countryside. A real escape. Aug 2010.
  9. A lovely lakeland cottage set in a quiet valley off the beaten track with walks from the front door. The cottage was cosy, clean and furnished to a good standard. Ideal size for four people and their dogs! Nov 2010.
  10. The cottage was very nice and all that we needed; it was in a lovely area and we will be going back again. July 2010.
  11. Quiet and peaceful with lovely scenery. June 2010.
  12. The open plan kitchen, dining room and living room. June 2010.
  13. Very quiet area, scenery is fantastic. Cottage cosy. April 2010.
  14. Lovely cottage in a perfect location to explore the lakes, hills etc. April 2010
  15. Very clean and had fresh flowers. March 2010.
  16. Very welcoming, clean and exactly as per the description. Good welcome from Joanne, obviously keen to make sure we had everything we needed. Feb 2010.
  17. Very spacious cottage in a very quiet location. Situated close to lots of local walks and the views were fantastic. Feb 2010.
  18. A warm and cosy cottage in an excellent location for exploring the Duddon valley and beyond. Jan 2010.
  19. Duddon View was very cosy, clean, well equipped, clean and tidy. Owner of the cottage was friendly. Fantastic to be allowed to take our dog and the enclosed garden. Lovely thought to have Xmas tree for us. Dec 2009.
