Whether for a holiday in the height of summer, enjoying the many attractions and beaches in the area, or for a family gathering in off peak season for a celebration, Dray Cottage is a superb choice. Dartmouth Golf and Country Club is 10 minutes’ drive. Other facilities at the club include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa and gym. Golfers also receive a discount on the green fees.
Dray Cottage is set in the small hamlet of Fallapit, just outside the village of East Allington midway between the towns of Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth. This AONB has many sandy beaches and stunning coastline very close by, including Blue Flag beaches Slapton Sands, Beesands, East Portlemouth, Bantham, Bigbury and Thurlestone. The town of Dartmouth is nestled on the River Dart and offers boat trips, exclusive shops, galleries, many pubs and some famous restaurants. Totnes, 5 miles up the river, is a town steeped in history, enjoying a colourful and exuberant atmosphere, while Salcombe is another pretty riverside town, boasting a busy estuary with many yachts sailing by and a myriad of interesting shops and pubs in its winding streets. There are several NT properties in the area to explore and some delightful open gardens. With the South Hams coastal path stretching over 60 miles there is great walking and time can be spent exploring the rugged moorland.
A little further afield and well worth a visit is the Eden Project in Cornwall. Riding, sailing, sea and coarse fishing are available locally, as well as a good variety of shopping. Shops 3 miles, pubs ½ mile.

  1. The use of the indoor swimming pool and gym facilities was a great asset given the wet weather we had. The cottage is well kitted out for families with toys and great cooking equipment. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip on the boat from Brixham to Torquay, well worth the £2 return! June 2012.
  2. Very spacious and extremely well equipped accommodation. We couldn’t think of anything which had not been provided (apart from sunshine). This was a family get together with 3 couples a tiny baby and two dogs but the cottage accommodated us all easily. One member of our party found the golf course very good. The location close to Dartmough, Totnes and Kingsbridge meant there was a variety of places to visit nearby. Sept 2011.

  4. Absolutely fantastic - all we wished for and much, much more. We were a party of four (55, 57, 75, 85) plus labradoodle puppy of 16 months. The cottage was an absolute delight being clean, spacious and extremely well furnished, with wonderful finishing touches everywhere we looked. The cottage was so clean and immaculate it felt as if we were the first people to have ever stayed there. May 2011.

  13. The property is very spacious, particularly the lounge/dining area and is very suitable for family get-togethers. Whilst the kitchen is not big it has all the facilities for food preparation and cooking and the range of crockery and oven to table dishes and platters is fantastic - certainly helps to enhance food presentation. The accommodation was very warm throughout without having to play around with heating controls etc. The fire in the lounge could have been a bit more impressive as a focal point for such a lovely room but that’s a small point. Similarly the TV could have been better - a large flat screen is not expensive these days and would have been more appropriate for the lovely lounge. The weather and time of year did not permit us to use the outside facilities but these seemed adequate. The membership of the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club was a big plus for us. Oct 2009.
