  1. Whatever I write, whatever words I use to describe this Devonly oasis, they will not do it justice! Upon arrival we were met by the owner and a more welcoming one we could not have received. Despite the cold, wet weather - it was October, the cottage was clean, warm and cosy. The location is idyllic, surrounded by green hills and beautiful scenery. Despite a very good road being 5 minutes away giving excellent links to the whole of the south coast, there was a complete lack of traffic noise - actually any disturbance at all. My only piece of advice - go experience it for yourself. Oct 2012.
  2. Very warm welcome from the owner and a lovely welcome pack. Well equipped cosy cottage in a very quiet beautiful location, only a short drive to supermarket and petrol station. Had everything we needed. Sept 2012.
  3. Lovely cosy cottage set in quiet countryside. We loved having access to a log burner which warmed the whole cottage. We received a lovely welcome pack when we got there. All in all it was excellent and we would recommend to others. April 2012.
  4. We loved staying at Drakes barned and only wished we could live there forever. Myself my wife and our two young children aged 4 & 8 months loved being remote and in the countryside, yet only a short drive to some great seaside locations and bigger towns such and Exeter and Honiton. Opening the curtains every morning to see the wonderful countryside of the Blackdown hills was bliss. The owners were also wonderful and most welcoming and made sure we wanted for nothing on our stay. We will be back. March 2012.
  5. We would thoroughly recommend Drakes Barn and its hosts for a holiday/break in the Devon and Somerset area. They were very accommodating and are offering a superb product for people seeking to get away from it all. Dec 2011.
  6. We really enjoyed our holiday at Drake’s Barn. The setting is secluded and peaceful. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely consider another holiday in this cottage. Sept 2011.
  7. Drakes Barn is a great destination for those who value rural peace and quiet and beauty. Sit out in the courtyard and the loudest sound is the beating of sparrows’ wings. The local lanes are traffic-free and great for scenic walks. The owners could not have been more welcoming. Sept 2011.
  8. We loved Drakes Barn, it was perfect for my husband and I and our 2 children. It was comfortable and very well equipped. The owners were very friendly. We used the cottage as a base and ventured out each day to a different part of Devon and Dorset, it really was perfect for us. Aug 2011.
  9. Lovely quiet location with lovely views from the lounge window over the owners attractive garden to the countryside beyond. The place was really nicely furnished, which made for a nice home from home atmosphere. July 2011.
  10. Made to feel very welcome. The cottage was very cosy and the location very quiet with lovely views. July 2011.
  11. We were made to feel very welcomed by the owners. They were friendly and accommodating, without being intrusive. It was a brilliant bonus that we were able to bring our dog. The location is convenient to visit other places, but still nice and secluded - all you could hear were the birds and sounds of the country. The addition of a welcome basket was a lovely touch. All of the facilities were great - we would love to come again. April 2011.
  12. The cottage was extremely well furnished and comfortable in a pleasant country sort of way and the location with views over open countryside was excellent. Plenty of old books and pictures. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Feb 2011.
  13. Drakes Barn was absolutely perfect. We stayed over Christmas, in the thick snow, and it couldn’t have been better. Rather than it feeling like a rental property, it felt like we’d borrowed a friends house. Every comfort had been thought of and despite the freezing temperatures outside, the log burner (helped by the 4 foot thick walls) kept us warm as toast. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked which enabled us to cook a full Christmas dinner and the beds were very comfy. David, the owner, couldn’t have been any more welcoming, including a bottle of wine and a ready lit fire. He even lent us 2 sledges and gave us a carrot for our snowmans nose. Can’t wait to return. Dec 2010.
  14. Warm and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen. Lovely wood burning fire. Friendly welcome. Nov 2010.
