Property Description

This detached bungalow is situated down a quiet lane and set within a working farm. The bungalow has been tastefully renovated and well presented. An ideal place for family holidays with the Jurassic coastal walk only 10 miles away which takes in Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Branscombe. Exeter, with its cathedral, university and shops, only 9 miles. Walking can be found on Dartmoor which is close by, as well as many NT places. Exeter also has many museums, the most extensive of which is the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery. But, without a doubt, the jewel in Exeter’s crown is the medieval cathedral, inside is a magnificent vaulted ceiling, stained glass and carved tombs. Along the narrow streets from the cathedral is the commercial heart of the city with one of the best shopping centres in the south west.
Exeter’s historic quayside is a popular tourist attraction. Once a Roman waterway, later a 16th century port and today a city centre riverside resort, it offers a unique collection of shops, restaurants and outdoor activities which blend with the attractive 17th and 18th century warehouses and buildings to give a charming mix of past and present. The South West Coastal Path National Trail runs along the entire length of the Jurassic Coast. The coastal path offers the walker stunning views, with a bird’s eye view of many coastal features. From here you can experience the drama of sheer cliff faces, wonder at the strangely eroded rock formations and above all, the views are truly stunning.

  1. We have been on many self catering holiday with welcome cottages and others in different properties. Downhams Bungalow is a must as far as location to near by beaches, towns and the local pub! The property itself is very comfortable, clean, warm and homely, great garden for the dogs, along with the rabbits, fox and birds. We also witnessed a fox hunt during our stay!! Highly recommended.   6. The bungalow was excellent value and was situated in perfect location. The garden was flat and enclosed so suitable for small children. We visited Sidmouth, Lymeregis , and Crealy Adventure park which were all quite close. Aug 2011.
  7. Downhams Farm is very suitable for anyone with a family, it has a huge garden for children to play, the cottage is very home from home we loved it, and are booking again for next year. July 2011.
  8. In 15 years of self catering holidays this has to be one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. Completely peaceful, tranquil location without being isolated. Wonderful clean, spacious, comfortable accommodation without any fussy nik-naks to worry about. Great, safe garden for kids. Cows outside the kitchen window. The owners were charming, friendly and helpful. The location is perfect - half an hour or less to Exeter, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Bicton Park. We loved it and would definitely go back again. June 2011.
