This stone built holiday cottage looks out upon some of the finest scenery in the Lakes. St Johns-in-the-Vale is nearby with the challenging walking country of High Rigg, and rising up behind are the lower slopes of Blencathra. Set on a working sheep farm, just off the A66, an ideal touring base for the Lakes. The traditional village of Threlkeld, 1 mile. The bustling market town of Keswick, 6 miles. Lakeside walks at Thirlmere and boating trips on Derwent Water. Grasmere, 10 miles, Ambleside, 14 miles, Windermere, 18 miles. Ullswater, with steamboat trips, is 10 miles. Set on a working sheep farm, just off the Penrith to Keswick Road (A66), an ideal touring base for the Lakes. The children can enjoy the climbing frame, slide and swings in an enclosed play area. The traditional village of Threlkeld, 1 mile, has two excellent pubs serving food. The bustling market town of Keswick, 6 miles, with a selection of shops, tourist attractions, restaurants and pubs. Lakeside walks at Thirlmere and boating trips on Derwent water are a must. Travelling along a country lane through the Vale will bring you to the prehistoric site of Castlerigg Stone Circle. Grassmere, 10 miles, Ambleside, 14 miles, Windermere, 18 miles. Ullswater, with steamboat trips, is 10 miles. Shop 6 miles, pub 1 mile.

  14. The cottage was absolutely lovely! Very well laid out, lovely fittings and furniture including a DVD TV, which is not on the cottage description. The welcome tray was very welcome indeed! The location is great, just off the A66 meant easy access to all areas of the Lakes and out the back window is Blencathra, beautiful! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. It was very dog friendly too with 2 stair gates available. Oct 2009.
  15. I had never had too book accommodation for dogs before and was expecting the worse. Previous guests of this cottage had said how they always expected the worse and how this cottage was better than anything they had ever booked before. Apart from a couple of "doggy" smell cushions I could never have expected anything as nice as this. Aug 2009.

  20. The location is ideal & plenty of good walking right from the door or a short bus ride into Keswick and onto the Borrowdale Valley. It is refreshing to stay in such a cosy, clean and comfortable cottage as dog owners usually get the short straw with accommodation. The cottage was so nice I could live in it permanantly! The welcoming touches from the owner like Christmas decorations, wine, mince pies, it all made for an excellent stay. Dec 2007.
