Facing each other across the pretty stable courtyard of the Grade II* listed Dingestow Court, are these two beautifully converted holiday properties. Set within 7-acres garden, Stable Court and Horseshoes have shared use of a tennis court and 3-acre lake with dinghy. The 1,200-acre estate offers good local walks and abundant wildlife, with the long distance Offa’s Dyke Path and new Brecon Beacon routes easily accessible. Monmouth, 5 miles, the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and the Black Mountains are easily reached, offering a wealth of Border castles. Golf, swimming, riding and mountain-biking are available locally. Less than an hour are Blaenavon World Heritage site, Big Pit coalmine, Cardiff Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Bay Opera House. Shop ½ mile.

This beautifully converted gatehouse at first floor level is reached by covered stairway. Huge, comfortable living/dining room with high-pitched ceilings, exposed beams, mullion windows and wood-burning stove. Compact, well-fitted kitchen. Double bedroom with 6ft bed. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. To one side of the dining area, steps lead to a gallery bedroom with twin beds and separate toilet.

  1. Lovely spacious open plan living/dining area. A small kitchen but had everything needed to make Christmas lunch! The cottage was very comfortable in lovely grounds. Extractor fans in the kitchen and bathroom would be a good addition, but otherwise everything was great. Dec 2012.

  3. Location - excellent in that within large beautiful grounds with lake. Fairly accessible to A40 and from that easy to get to Monmouth, Forest of Dean, Brecon Beacons etc. Had all amenities and 3 spacious bedrooms, plus very warm, including log burning stove. Hosts very friendly and helpful. April 2012.
  4. A roomy, comfortable, beautiful holiday let affording unusual accommodation - converted wing with vaulted ceiling in a house full of history- in amazing grounds. Something for all ages, assuming a love of magnificent country side, including rowing on a lake 200 yards away through the fields. We had a change round in the party, due to work and commitments, and Stable Court happily housed residents of seven months to seventy, enchanting us all. It was light and well heated with the added advantage of a big log burner for cosy evenings. The Bosanquets could not do enough to help us. We bought lovely eggs from them too and, through the excellent local shop found Bromfields Butchers at Gilwern where we purchased bacon, sausage and other goodies. Apart from exploring the wonderful estate, local church and wandering to the Somerset Arms, we visited Raglan Castle- super for all ages- Tintern Abbey, Tintern Parva with wine and lambs, the Old Station at Tintern and Abergavenny. Wernddu vineyard at Pen-y-clawdd is also to be recommended. Some of the party also went clay pigeon shooting -details in the visitors’ book. April 2012.

Beautiful and very thoughtfully equipped cottage in outstanding grounds, in fact, on several days we just stayed in situ and made use of the tennis court and lake (with boats and oars!)but lots to do and see in the area. Amazingly tranquil atmosphere, you can really unwind here.The owners are extremely helpful but not intrusive. July 2011.

  8. The property was superb, but more importantly the proprietors reaction to permitting dogs to enjoy the house and grounds was refreshing and made the holiday perfect. Their ’laissez-faire’ attitude and encouragement to enjoy the grounds to this beautiful manor will entice us back in the future - after all pets should enjoy a change of scenery too! June 2010.
  9. Very well situated for easy acsess to very sceanic places we loved the countryside and the rivers so many places to visit we where spoiled for choice we will definetly return and the dogs plenty of open spaces for them to excersie. May 2010

  13. Very welcoming and a beautiful location. The children loved rowing on the lake and playing tennis and were able to cycle around on the driveway safely. We would certainly think about going there again. We had a lovely week. Aug 2009.

  15. Size of the accommodation was excellent. Your photos of the interior on the website do not do the place justice. Meant to say this to the owners - as it’s a dog-friendly property it would have been useful to have information on pubs/eateries in the area that are dog-friendly as we were not allowed to leave the dog in the property unattended. Other information was extremely useful and fabulous having details of the history of the property. Wonderful country walks available on the doorstep. We were given access to a huge field and around the lake to let our dog off lead and she went bonkers chasing rabbits - too stupid to catch any though! July 2009.
