Property Description

Historic accommodation, set in tranquil locationHistoric accommodation, set in tranquil location

Delgatie Castle sits peacefully amid fields and forests, on a large country estate. It has a long and chequered history, dating back from 1050 and was once home to the late Captain Hay - a feudal baron. Now open to the public, the castle provides a wealth of interest for visitors, plus the opportunity to sample delicious home baking in the cosy tea room. Symbister Suite is located in the north wing of the castle, and has, as you would expect, all the style and ambience of a real stately home. Turriff, 3 miles, is home to a host of activities and interests. River fishing, with brown trout and salmon both available at cost. You can play golf on any of the several 18-hole courses in the area, or enjoy some time on a boating lake or even a putting green. Alternatively, play tennis, bowls, or go riding or shooting. Try the indoor sports and swimming pool complex. Nearby there are stately homes and castles to explore, museums and heritage centres, picturesque coastal villages, nature reserves and colourful parks, as well as famous distilleries. Advance grocery service available on request.Delgatie Castle sits peacefully amid fields and forests, on a large country estate. 11. Mrs Johnson, Was a fantastic Hostess & could not do enough for us. Delgatie Castle is a fantastic place to stay. We would have loved to have seen more & visited the Lairds Pantry for a bowl of wonderful soup. The grounds are fantastic with Trout fishing. My 3 teenagers loved the are, including the miniature horses and is perfect for any one who wants to visit the Distillery’s without being on top of them. My lad had an 18th Birthday to remember made even more special by Mrs. Johnson. We had the Symbister Suite which was very comfortable with resident Ghost who is friendly. My 3 teenagers loved it. If you need to get away with no internet, mobile,s & time to regroup as a family then this is highly recommended. The weather did not have a major impact on our stay. We would visit again. This is the 2nd break we have had in Scotland with your company and never dissapointed. I want to shout & share, but also want to keep it a secret. What a fantastic Castle holiday i have had. 15. Comfortable, homey, quiet and delightful surroundings. Helpful, but non imposing caretakers. A magical place. Oct 2007.
  16. Fantastic property and the Caretaker Joan was wonderful. The staff in general were very very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The food in the tea room was to die for. Oct 2008.
  17. The week we had in the suite was fantastic, we even got married whilst there. The castle was fantastic, the staff even better, so overall we had such a lovely time we didn’t want to go home. We would highly recommend this holiday to anyone who loves castles, the Scottish countryside or to those who just want a relaxing stay with a four poster. We will certainly be going back, sooner than later hopefully. Many thanks to the holiday company staff and the castle staff for such an easy and quick service, from checking availablity to getting to our accommodation and booking out, it was a pleasant transaction thanks for everything. June 2007.
