Property Description

These attractive holiday properties lie in the peaceful conservation village of Colerne, surrounded by rolling countryside. The Grade II* listed stable conversion (PFFH) is part of the only longhouse in Wiltshire and dating back to the 13th century, is the oldest house in the village. Beautifully refurbished to offer all modern conveniences, yet retains charm and character. Sympathetically converted, the detached, single-storey barn (PHHF) offers light and airy, contemporary accommodation. Colerne has a good selection of shops and pubs but only a short bus journey, 7 miles, will take you into Bath and Chippenham. Within easy reach of Bristol, Bradford-on-Avon and the much-filmed villages of Lacock and Castle Combe. Great area for walking. Shop 200 yards, family pub and restaurant 10 yards.

Large, open-plan living/dining room with sofa bed, triple aspect windows and kitchen area. Shower room with double shower cubicle and toilet. Wooden stairs to first floor: Gallery double bedroom with additional single bed (for +1). Wooden floor and beams throughout.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. The property is very well presented and was a lovely place to stay. Good bus service to Bath from just outside. It is attached to the owner’s property so you can expect to hear some noise from next door. The pub is directly opposite the property and there was noise late at night one evening. Oct 2012.
  2. This is a charming property, ideal for a family of three plus a dog. It is well positioned for good day trips to many postcard pretty villages as well as Bath and Bristol. The owners are friendly and helpful. We would be happy to visit Daubeneys again. July 2012.
  3. Fantastic place (execpt very sqeaky stairs when trying to walk quietly for a sleeping baby). July 2012.
  4. Lovely holiday, lovely accomodation. Bus to Bath available from village, great for getting familiar with roads etc in Bath. Pub across from cottage, good food, service and nice beer garden, not at all noisy. Only two things to note, there is no bath in bathroom (but shower was lovely) and the cottage garden was not fully enclosed and directly accessible from cottage. March 2012.
  5. A beautiful cottage in a lovely part of the country - a perfect holiday. March 2012.
  6. A charming and quirky stable, lovingly restored by the owners who also live on site. This is a lovely home from home with little touches from the owner that made it special - welcome pack of groceries with local biscuits for example - and this is probably the most dog friendly place we have eveer stayed. This property really has the special factor - if only they were all like this. March 2012.
  7. Daubeneys is a Light and airy, beautiful space; offering a very relaxing, creative and peaceful atmosphere. We were impressed by the well equipped kitchen including garlic crusher, cafetiere, wine cooler, selection of cook books, dishwasher tablets and the food welcome pack with lovely bread, eggs, juice and milk. We chose Daubeneys for its proximity to Bath as we have friends there and we’re able to meet up easily, using the local bus service from outside the front gate. We hope to return next year. Many thanks. Feb 2012.
  8. Beautiful property, and wonderful hosts, we would not hesitate to recommend Daubeneys to others looking for a relaxing place to stay within a few miles of Bath. Could not of been better! Jan 2012.
  9. The cottage was absolutely perfect the only thing missing was a real fire. Nov 2011.
  10. I booked this short weekend break to celebrate my husbands birthday and I can honestly say that Daubeney’s stable is one of the best holiday lets I have stayed in. The cottage was very clean and in a lovely little village with a pub opposite that offers excellent food. There is also a local bus service (stop right outside the cottage)that enabled us to visit bath without having to battle with traffic and parking. The owner also stocked the fridge with milk and orange juice and left fresh bread and some little treats which I thought was a lovely touch. Would recommend. Dec 2011.
  11. Melanie and Ian provided us with everything we needed and more- a wonderful welcome tray with excellent shortcake biscuits! I was particularly grateful for the use of the shepherd’s hut on wheels in the garden as a peaceful and comfortable place in which to carry out my Buddhist chanting of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. Anyone going to spend time in this wonderful location and staying in this beautiful restoration will find peace and tranquility the re. Thank you so much. Oct 2011.
  12. We had an excellent stay, apart from our first night when we all felt cold, however this was rectified the following morning and we enjoyed the warmth for the rest of our visit. July 2011.
  13. Property was very well presented. Very comfortable and in a great location. June 2011.
  14. The owners make these two properties, as they are caring yet discreet, and have clearly given lots of thought to the little extras that make a holiday cottage just a bit more special. March 2011.
  15. This cottage was the best we’ve ever stayed in, so full of character & charm. The owners were very helpful & the little welcoming touches make all the difference. Very close to Bath for a lovely day out, would highly recommend the Thermae Spa & the Pump Rooms for lunch. March 2011.
  16. Beautful traditional property of a very high standard with thoughtful extras provided by the owner, ie: milk, eggs, juice, bread, butter, jam, biscuits, lovely toiletries and very fluffy towels! Nov 2010.
  17. The property was very charming and characterful, whilst providing all the modern conveniences. It was in a great location and was a great base for exploring the area, walking or the usual sight-seeing stuff. Nov 2010.
