Within the Mabie Forest, which overlooks the Solway Firth and Dumfries (3 miles), excellent marked walks for all abilities can be enjoyed, as well as great mountain bike trails. The property is situated next to Towerwood golf driving range where professional tuition is available. Within Dumfries - a traditional market town - there is excellent shopping, as well as a selection of cafés and restaurants. The coastal Solway area has many village crafts, and museums to visit, as well as beautiful sandy or rocky beaches to explore. Shop 1 mile.

Really good location for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. Only thing to be mindful of is the lack of mobile signal (and I have two phones on different providers). Didn’t mind this myself as it meant I really got away from it all in the evenings. Feb 2012.

  6. Lovely comfortable little cottage, so comfortable we found it really difficult to get out each day! Fantastic location for mountain biking and beautiful scenery. Owners very friendly and helpful, but discreet giving us privacy. Would definitely come back again, if only for the local food and cakes! April 2011.
