Property Description

Created from attractive mellow brick farm buildings, these two comfortable and immaculately maintained holiday cottages adjoin each other and overlook the pastureland of the River Dove. Set in the conservation village of Ellastone, reputedly the setting for George Eliot’s ’Adam Bede’. Many outdoor activities and attractions await with cycle hire and trails within 5 miles and excellent walking all around. Should you tire of enjoying the invigorating fresh air, Stoke on Trent, 12 miles, offers pottery museums and factory shops. Accessible NT properties include Kedleston, Sudbury, Calke Abbey, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. An excellent base for touring Dovedale and discovering Alton Towers, 1½ miles, Ashbourne, Buxton and Bakewell. Shop 3 miles, pub with good food 500 yards.

All on ground floor: 1 step to living/dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Both properties: Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Use of laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Small shared garden and furniture. Parking (2 cars). Welcome pack. No smoking.

  12. Good storage in cottage. ESPECIALLY HELPFUL was the fact that we could lock our bicycles in the outbuilding, just across the drive from our front door and we were given key to same.   20. Al and I rested up and also did road trips, we managed to squeeze in stepping stone at Dovedale and a night walk in Ellastone, shopping in Ashbourne, Derby and Matlock. The apartment was lovely and so was the owner Very good presentation and a lovely welcome tea and coffee spread with biscuits, milk and also orange for the morning! Oct 2006.
