Property Description

Cuckoo Springs is a haven of peace and tranquillity set in 20 acres of fields and bluebell woods, yet just 4 miles from award-winning beaches and the historic market town of Newcastle Emlyn with its 13th-century castle, shops, pubs and restaurants. The area has much to offer; seals, dolphins, red kites may be seen on the coastal path; ancient castles and monuments can be explored; or guests can try carriage driving. Cenarth with its waterfalls is 3 miles where fishing, indoor swimming-pool, coracle rides and paintballing are all available. Golf links and steam railways are a little further afield. The three cottages (Refs ONA, OWS and OWT) are located on the owner’s equestrian small holding and guests are able to enjoy woodland walks. Shop 1 mile, pub 3 miles.

Part of the same 18th-century converted barn this cottage has views of the pony paddocks and stables, its own attractive outdoor terrace, large shared garden and grassy area suitable for family games. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Beamed living/dining room with exposed stone wall and kitchen.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. The quality of the accommodation is excellent. The cottage is well equipped and very clean. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. They are very patient with inquisitive children and are always willing to show them around the farm. A welcome basket which included bread, butter, milk, eggs, scones, coffee, sugar and tea bags was a lovely touch, as was the jubilee party they organised for the guests. The beaches in the surrounding area are beautiful. We have booked to go again, which will be our third visit in 12 months. A great place to unwind. June 2012.
  2. Would recommend this cottage to anyone. The barn has been converted in wonderful taste. Although the cottage is not in a town the surrounding area is incredibly beautiful and easily reached. Aberporth and Aberaeron are great and you can walk the coastal path from there. May 2012.
  3. We had a great stay at Orchid cottage. The property is beautiful and well kept. All the fixtures and fittings looked brand new. The location is idylic and very peaceful. Mike and Julie, the owners are very friendly and helpful. Aug 2011.

  5. Orchid Cottage was a really beautiful cottage set in a perfect location, it was so comfortable, full of character with all mod cons, and finished to a very high standard, we had a really relaxing holiday and it was a pleasure every day to return to this little hidden gem. We didn’t want to leave and would love to return in the future we would definitely recommend this property. June 2011.
  6. The cottage was lovely, and our 2- (nearly 3) year old loved all the space in the wood and meadow, and being able to see the horses, chickens and Meg the dog from our living room window. Julie and Mike were great hosts. The Gwili railway was good, and the Blue Lagoon & Adventure Centre at Bluestone and Teifi Mania softplay in Cardigan were great venues for small children on rainy days. May 2011.
  7. The proprety presented very well. It was ideal for our family twin 5 year old boys. The owners were welcoming and helpful. May 2011.
  8. What a lovely warm welcome from our hosts when we arrived at the cottage after a long journey from Cambridgeshire. Perfectly situated for coastal walks and visits to local beauty spots, it was an ideal base for our holiday with two dogs. Plenty of good local pubs within a 15min drive if eating out is on your holiday agenda! May 2011.
  9. Perfect location, perfect accommodation and wonderful hosts. Peace and tranquillity throughout and located in a picture postcard location. We booked a short break and intend to go back immediately for a longer break in the summer. Ideally located for entire Welsh coastline and National Park. Beaches 5 minutes away with ample parking and facilities. Accommodation was of the highest standard in every regard. Thoroughly recommended to all. May 2011.
  10. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Orchid cottage. Mike and Julie were so helpful and friendly and our boys loved saying hello to the horses and chickens every day and playing with Megan the sheepdog!Plenty of room with lots of outside space for the kids. A beautiful location, close to the sea and lots of fantastic coastal walks with hidden coves and beaches. Would not hesitate to recommend! April 2011.
  11. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location and the accommodation is excellent cannot fault it. March 2011.
  12. This is a superb cottage in a beautiful location. Exceptionally clean throughout. All the appliances in the kitchen were in excellent working order. Especially liked the log fire and an unlimited supply of logs. The owners left bread, milk and eggs from the "resident" hens. Superb bathrooms. Overall a most enjoyable break and a cottage to definitely visit. March 2011.
  13. As a dog owner, we have come to expect sub-standard accommodation when taking short breaks, but Orchid Cottage was a lovely surprise - it was very clean and comfortable. This was the first time we have used your company and would certainly use them again. Feb 2011.
  14. Very comfortable, very clean, owners were very welcoming and helpful. Aug 2010.

  16. A beautiful quiet location, with plenty of outside space to exercise our dog, incuding the owners woodland and fields. The property was very tastefully presented and immaculately clean, it was very well equipped and extremly comfortable. July 2010.

  18. The cottage was very clean and well furnished. The welcome pack was a nice surprise and information the owners left was very helpful. This is the first time we have stayed in cottage in the uk and hope to do so again. June 2010.
  19. This is a lovely "upside-down" cottage in a pretty rural setting. The owners are very friendly and helpful and once we had settled in they took us for a walk around their land and wood. Apart from this being a lovely walk this also meant that we knew where we were able to take our dog on the owners land. The cottage was very comfortable and clean and well fitted out. On the days when we knew that we would be back late we also took advantage of the home cooked meals which could be booked in advance with the owners, which were very tasty and very convenient for us. They have 3 friendly horse, which our children loved and one day we went out for a pony and trap ride with the owner. It is lovely cottage and we had wonderful sunny weather as well. We hope to return soon. May 2010.
  20. Very comfortable accommodation which was well equipped, home from home. March 2010.
