Property Description

Cuckoo Springs is a haven of peace and tranquillity set in 20 acres of fields and bluebell woods, yet just 4 miles from award-winning beaches and the historic market town of Newcastle Emlyn with its 13th-century castle, shops, pubs and restaurants. The area has much to offer; seals, dolphins, red kites may be seen on the coastal path; ancient castles and monuments can be explored; or guests can try carriage driving. Cenarth with its waterfalls is 3 miles where fishing, indoor swimming-pool, coracle rides and paintballing are all available. Golf links and steam railways are a little further afield. The three cottages (Refs ONA, OWS and OWT) are located on the owner’s equestrian small holding and guests are able to enjoy woodland walks. Shop 1 mile, pub 3 miles.

Adjoining the owner’s 18th-century farmhouse, part of this cottage dates back to 1753 and, with its warm cosy atmosphere and wood burning stove, is perfect for couples seeking a romantic relaxing retreat. Living/dining room with wood-burning stove and fitted kitchen area with French doors to garden. First floor: Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. It was autumn when we visited and wet on occasions. The cottage was comfortable and well appointed and nicely situated for sight-seeing in the mid-Wales locality. Owners were warm, considerate and obliging throughout our week’s stay. Oct 2012.
  2. A very enjoyable holiday, lovely cottage set in quiet countryside, made to feel very welcome by the hosts, we would certainly stay here again. June 2012.
  3. Cuckoo Springs is the best equipped cottage we have been to. It was very comfortable and there was lots to do, despite the poor weather. The owners Mike and Julie made us very welcome with a lovely basket of provisions to get us started. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet location with a beach and town nearby. June 2012.
  4. This was our second visit to Cuckoo Springs which is testament in itself. We love the setting and surroundings and particularly enjoyed walking in the woods amongst the orchids. Mike and Julie were very helpful and welcoming. Our highlights were the bird life, Meg the dog, a very proud cockerel and a particularly cheeky chicken. May 2012.
  5. We received such a warm wlecome on our arrival on a particuarly dark and rainy evening. Mike and Julie made us feel very welcome - the elderflower champagne on New Years Day was a particular treat! Dec 2011.
  6. Lovely cosy well appointed cottage. Gorgeous goody basket on arrival with bread and home made scone. Owners very friendly and helpful. Great wood burning stove. Great location close to coast and national trust properties. We recommend a trip to the Welsh wildlife centre, lovely walks and a great cafe! Sept 2011.

  9. Cuckoo Springs was in a very peaceful location but also well placed for visiting the beautiful coastline. The owners were very friendly and they had provided basic provisions (and some home made scones) when we arrived which was an unexpected but very nice touch. We were only there a few days but would definitely go back as there was much more to see and we didn’t encounter any traffic jams or overcrowded places. July 2011.
  10. Quiet, relaxing and very welcoming from owners nothing was too much trouble, nice welcome pack. Easy to find via instructions. May 2011.

  14. The cottage was a real home from home and was tastefully decorated, cosy and fully equipped. We thought it was particularly thoughtful that the fire had been lit in the stove, and the kettle boiled with a fresh scone in the welcome hamper ready for our arrival. Aug 2010.
  15. In a very quiet and friendly environment within easy reach of the sea, beaches and nearby towns. Ideal for dogs also with plenty of space. July 2010.
  16. It had everything you would need and was like a home away from home. July 2010.
  17. We were upgraded to another property due to works being carried out, which was larger and of a very high standard. It certainly made our holiday more special. April 2010.
