Property Description

Situated a mile down a single track road surrounded by pine woodland, heaths and farm fields, this superb brick and flint lodge offers substantial family accommodation with four of the six bedrooms enjoying en-suite facilities. The internal decor boasts an interesting mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings and is well equipped to the E.T.C. ’5 Star’ standard. The property is set within a beautiful 23,000 acre estate - it has its own sunny, walled garden and enjoys wonderful countryside views from most rooms.
There are extensive walks using the private estate road system leading to forest paths, most notably the Peddars Way. The surrounding area offers a wealth of historic attractions, such as Grime’s Graves, unique and remarkable Neolithic flint mines - the earliest major industrial site in Europe, an Anglo-Saxon village reconstruction at West Stow. Mildenhall, 4 miles distant, has a sports centre, swimming-pool, shops, inns and restaurants. Bury St Edmunds, one of the most unspoilt towns in the country with its famous abbey ruins, offers many town amenities, excellent restaurants and cafes, lively open air market on Saturdays and Wednesdays as well as outstanding examples of Georgian architecture. First class horse racing can be found at Newmarket (12 miles), the scene of the first recorded horse race in 1619, and home to the National Horse Racing Museum. The delightful town of Diss is but a short drive away with a popular market every Friday, Water Gardens and Aquarium Centre. North Norfolk coast is within an hour’s drive. Fishing and golf 8 miles. Pub 1 mile in the village of Eriswell. Shops 3 miles.
