Property Description

Craig Barn Lodge and Cottage are situated in an outstanding and beautiful area, affording stunning views over the beautiful and tranquil Loch Uisg. In a remote setting, surrounded by wooded glens and rugged mountain peaks, these spacious and very comfortable properties stand against the magnificent backdrop of Bheinn Creach. The cottage, a converted steading, has its own secluded garden with a meandering stream and delightful pond, whilst the former hunting lodge has 2 acres of walled gardens and natural grounds which reach down to the shore of the loch, of which each property has fabulous views. The nearest beach is only 2½ miles away at Laggan Sands. Ideal for families holidaying together these properties are well equipped for modern living and enjoy a timeless atmosphere. The abundance of natural wildlife and spectacular scenery makes Mull a paradise for the discerning visitor with its outstanding landscapes attracting walkers, artists, photographers, divers, golfers, sailors, cyclists, anglers and bird watchers. Around the island minke whales, red deer, dolphins, basking sharks, porpoise and otters can all be seen in their natural habitat, as well as golden and sea eagles and many other bird species. Boat trips can be taken to Iona where guests can visit the famous abbey, or to the isle of Staffa with the extraordinary Fingal’s Cave. The colourfully painted town of Tobermory (40 miles) is definitely worth a visit and Torosay Castle and Gardens make a great day out. There are two 9-hole golf courses on the island. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Wonderful evocative old building; great location and a fun home away from home. August 2012.
  2. Amazing location...Beautiful building... Cycled to Laggan sands, kayaked and rowed on loch uisg and kids loved building dens in the garden. Totally fantastic old fashioned family holiday enjoyed by adults and kids alike! June 2012.
  3. Our holiday was fantastic although not long enough! Such a beautiful lodge in a beautiful setting. Our two dogs loved it and the large walled garden was such a bonus with the dogs free to run. Saw a white tailed eagle from the dining room, soaring above the loch, golden eagles at the rear of the lodge and otters down the lane at the sea loch - what more could you want from a holiday? Oct 2011.
  4. Fabulous location and great house. Third time for us and our friends and definitely felt like home. Good walks from the house also if you just want to stay in and soak up the peace and quiet. You do have to be organised as can’t just pop to the shop but who wants to be able to do that? Wild otter, deer, oyster catchers and other wildlife to look out for. HEAVEN. April 2011.
  5. The house is very grand and my daughters found the history of it very romantic. We thought it excellent that everything you could possibly need was available, like home from home. July 2010.
  6. It was exactly our sort of house and relaxed lived in and comfortable. June 2010.
  7. Comfortable ’lived-in’ feel was great. The kitchen was well equipped - a real cook’s kitchen. June 2010.
  8. Beautifully located, well equipped and spacious accommodation. May 2010.
  9. Superb accomodation, we had been there before so we knew how good it was, and this was a major factor in re-booking. April 2010.
  10. Mull with good weather is unbeatable anywhere in the world. This is an excellent base to get the most out of everything this island has to offer - which is a lot. July 2009.
  11. As a MacLean of Lochbuie, it was a superb surprise to find I was staying in the Hunting Lodge built by my Clan Chief in 1860. Lots of room, very quiet, fronting onto Loch Uisg, with fishing rights thrown in. July 2009.
  12. Such a lovely property, in beautiful surroundings. The property encapsulated everything that is Scotland. March 2008.
  13. The Lodge is absolutely superb. it is really well equipped with everything you could need and is set in the most glorious surroundings. April 2008.
  14. It was great. Oct 2007.
  15. We love Craig Ben Lodge because it feels like a home the minute you walk inside. Our first visit was 10 years ago and enjoyed it just as much this time as we did then. The only thing missing was the huge tree with a swing which used to be in the front garden, but then the children are too old now and there are proper swings instead. Also, only managed one open fire as the weather was so good. May 2007.
