Property Description

Superbly located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with long-distance views from the rear towards Malham Cove, these three properties form part of a barn conversion dating back to the 1800s. Exposed stonework, beams and arches are a feature in their well furnished interiors. They are set on the owners’ working farm (keep dogs under control), upon which the owners run a farm shop – a selection of local produce and crafts can be purchased and make unique souvenir ideas. With their own separate garden areas complete with barbecue equipment, the cottages can be booked together to accommodate larger groups wishing to holiday together, yet retain their independence.
Surrounded by rolling countryside criss-crossed with the limestone walls for which this region is renowned, each forms an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts, with stunning walks from the doorstep leading to Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss. The historic market town of Skipton is close at hand, boasting one of England’s best preserved Norman castles. Take a leisurely boat trip along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, step back in time with a narrated ghost walk around the town’s backwaters, or hunt for a bargain at the bustling street market – its stalls laden with local produce. An alternative selection of shops and tearooms can be found in Settle (6 miles), an ideal base for embarking on a journey aboard the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway. Set on the banks of the River Wharfe, the ruined priory of Bolton Abbey offers a picturesque setting for picnics and strolls along the river bank, and serves as a good starting point for more challenging hikes through forest and heath. Plenty of good restaurants and country pubs serving real ales and fine local fayre in the vicinity. Shop 10 yards.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Walks in every direction virtually from doorstep, which is great for those of us, who walk in moderation & who would not be called ’serious walkers’. We feared the farm shop might be too near & create parking near our cottage but this was not the case. We loved having this facility saving us buying food when out & about. June 2011.
  2. A really lovely property in a wonderful location. Just a few more little extra touches, like hairdryers in bedrooms and 2 small comfy chairs by the window with the fabulous view, would have made it perfect. June 2011.
  3. Very well appointed property and very helpful and pleasant owners on hand. Farm shop produce was convenient and very good quality. April 2011.
  4. Lovely weekend, perfect house and surroundings for a relaxing time with friends. Would definitely recommend to others. March 2011.
  5. Plenty of room, worked well for 2 couples. Oct 2010.
  6. Flexible accommodation, well presented with some nice little touches. Sept 2010.
  7. The house was of very good standard and size and its localisation perfect for a holiday in the Dales. July 2010.
  8. We have stayed in all three properties at Town End Farm and always look forward to another visit. We particularly love Cove View with it’s amazing views and superb downstairs shower room and bedroom. The farm shop and cafe next door are excellent and the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. We cannot praise it enough! May 2010.
  9. Spacious, well equipped and with a fantastic view. Safe garden and very helpful, friendly owner on site. May 2010.
  10. Location, space facilities. March 2010.
  11. Spacious, clean, warm, excellent views. Dec 2009.
  12. Very warm, comfortable, clean and well equipped. Dec 2009.
  13. For a property with 6 people and a dishwasher, more crockery would have been useful. Only 6 plates, bowls etc were provided and therefore either had to be manually washed or dishwasher was run half empty (not particularly green!) Its only a minor gripe on an otherwise great cottage. Oct 2009.
  14. Cleanliness - downstairs bedroom and shower room suitable for my elderly father. The views from the cottage were lovely. Oct 2009.
  15. .It was a superb conversion. Everything necessary was provided but there was no unnecessary clutter. The farm shop next door was outstanding - the meat products were excellent but visitors should not expect supermarket prices. The owners could not have been more helpful and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Beautiful views and excellent dog walking along the Pennine Way is really close at hand. Plenty to do in the area. Sept 2009.
  16. The accommodation was well appointed and comfortable, with a view to die for! Aug 2009.
  17. Spacious with good views. Aug 2009.
  18. The best property we have ever stayed in. April 2008.
  19. Excellent accommodation, fantastic views. Simply the best! Feb 2008.
  20. This property and its owners are extraordinary. It is an exceptional accommodation in a lovely setting. I would recommend it unreservedly. July 2008.
