Property Description

Situated in the owners’ grounds on a 16th-century Grade II listed site, these well-appointed, beamed holiday cottages (PCCX and PCCY) occupy a truly peaceful setting. Located amidst 1066 countryside and ancient woodlands, this was once part of the Ashburnham family estate. Combe Hill Farm is ideally placed for visiting many NT and English Heritage sites, including Batemans - home of Rudyard Kipling, Battle Abbey and Bodiam Castle. The famous Glyndebourne Festival takes place from May to August and the ancient town of Lewes celebrates Bonfire Night with a magnificent procession and firework display. Hastings, with old fishermen’s huts and fresh fish, is worth a visit, as is the cobbled town of Rye and beautiful golden sand and dunes of Camber which await exploration. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Hall. Spacious, beamed open-plan living/dining room with wooden floor and galley-style kitchen. Double bedroom with 5ft bed, TV and en-suite shower room with large cubicle (power shower) and toilet. Two twin bedrooms. Bathroom with corner shower cubicle (power shower) and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. A fantastic property in a fantastic location. Oct 2012.
  2. Very well appointed accommodation. The best we have stayed in for the last ten years. The hosts were very helpful, even to supplying another bar-b-q so that we could have our family over to celebrate the 93rd birthday of my mother in law. June 2012.
  3. High standard barn conversion, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely setting with patio and garden area (complete with croquet pitch), with views across open fields to woodland. Easy drive to coastal resorts, and plenty of places to visit inland. June 2012.
  4. A well presented, spacious property that gave a sense of calm. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in! Plenty to do in the surrounding area. April 2012.
  5. Hosts were charming and went out of their way to be helpful. Full marks there. Sept 2011.
  6. The property was quiet, spacious and modern with amazing views. I especially liked the lovely cake and milk left for our enjoyment. The cupboards had enough cleaning equipment/condiments/toilet rolls etc for our stay which was nice (even though i had brought my own). Aug 2011.
  7. The property was lovely and very well maintained. One minor concern - we had two elderly ladies with us who found the two steps up to the sleeping area difficult to manage without a handrail of some kind. June 2011.
  8. This was the best accommodation we have ever had. It was clean, comfortable, warm, well-equipped. The owners had thought of everything to make this a fantastic place to use for a holiday. We could not fault it or them in any way. Oct 2010.
  9. Well furnished, well equipped, well kept; comfortably warm (in October). Lovely view over the countryside through large floor length windows. On arrival, a large, locally made lemon sponge cake with mother was absolutely delighted. Oct 2010.
  10. We found the property to be just as advertised in the brochure, clean, well presented and the outlook very pleasant. Only one thing the post code stops you at a house just up the lane but a phone call brought us to The Brye. Would recommend to others. Sept 2010.
  11. Clean and comfortable. Excellent location. Sept 2010.
  12. The property was modern, well furnished and information about the area was comprehensive. Sept 2010.
  13. The barn conversion was excellent and the property was light and airy. Aug 2010.
