Nestling in the beautiful Bowcombe Valley, just 4 miles from the nearest south coast beach, are these two properties. Brummell Barn is one of the original outbuildings to Cheverton Farmhouse, converted to provide highly individual and spacious accommodation. Boasting a wealth of interesting and original features, the barn has a splendid galleried sitting-room with beamed, vaulted ceiling enjoying lovely views over the surrounding countryside from its south-facing window. West-facing windows overlook the farmyard. Set close to the owner’s home on their mixed sheep, beef and arable farm, Brummell Barn has its own enclosed terrace with garden furniture and barbecue and Wendy house. Cheverton Farm Cottage is attached to the owner’s 18th-century home, with beams throughout. It has a large garden, and patio with garden furniture and barbecue (note: entrance is from the side door, not shown in photograph). With access to 730 acres of meadow and arable land adjoining forest and downland walking trails, visitors also enjoy shared use of a trampoline, swings, climbing frame, slide, games room with table tennis and air hockey, fitness room and a separate room with full-size billiard/snooker table (for adults) and darts, as well as use of the family’s indoor heated swimming pool. With dogs, ducks, chickens, sheep and cattle to visit, children will enjoy watching the varied farming activities (lambing in April). A perfect base for a family holiday, offering all the peace and quiet of the countryside combined with bathing beaches and a mild sunny climate.Shorwell, with its thatched stone cottages and Jacobean houses is 1 mile, while all the island’s popular seaside resorts are easily reached by a circular coastal road. Sandown and Shanklin, on the east side, have fine sandy beaches and Ventnor, at the southern tip, with its Botanic gardens, is huddled between steep, wooded cliffs. The farmhouse is a registered mountain bike centre for the Isle of Wight, there is an approximately 3 mile bike trail from the farm. Para-gliding, riding and golf can also be arranged (at cost). Shop and pub serving food 1 mile.

  2. The property is lovely, well presented and everything you could possibly need is there. The bedrooms are a lovely size, and its very handy having two toilets. The swimming pool is fantastic, a lovely size and warm. The facilities at the pool are brilliant as well, ie shower, toilet and cubicles. There are separate rooms for a gym,table tennis, air hockey and snooker, wonderful is what springs to mind. Hand on heart, couldnt have had a better property, with those facilities, for that price, anywhere. The hosts too were lovely and friendly but not in your face. Aug 2012.
  3. The cottage was fantastic, the attention to detail with regards to children was undoubtedly the best we’ve ever seen. The Pool was clean, and a superb bonus as well as the snooker table and table tennis. The local pub, The Crown in Shorwell was very welcoming, fantastic food and service. Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine are good for kids although expensive. The best day out we had was at Arreton Old Village which was free to get into and a brilliant day out. Calbourne watermill was expensive and not very well set out. May 2012.
  4. Beautiful location, not far from civilisation but just far enough away to relax and enjoy the fresh air and scenery. Brilliant pool, snooker table, walks, table tennis, garden mean you don’t need to leave the farm if you dont want to! March 2012.
  5. The cottage was well located for exploring the island, but the biggest draw for us was the indoor pool which helped the kids to burn off their energy on the odd rainy day. We were also able to use the farm tracks for bike riding - though it is hilly! The owners were very friendly and helpful. July 2011.
  6. The property was well equipped and very relaxing. Lots to do, both at the cottage and in the local area and the extra facilities (swimming pool, games room, play area etc) were a bonus. Very friendly owners and somewhere we will definately be coming back to. May 2011.
  7. A property that has it all, whatever the weather, indoor and outdoor activities, peace and quiet, all facilities provided by helpful and friendly hosts. One drawback, our mobile phones could only pick up a signal far away from the property. April 2011.

Very lovely accommodation, ideally located on a work farm, the kids enjoyed looking round the animals and enjoyed the added benefit of the swimming pool which you can use on your own without other people being there to, very welcoming hosts Sheila & Paddy, they made us very welcome and every thing we needed was there.very easy to get round the island with lots to do and not enough time, a very calm and lovely place to stay, very family friendly, would highly recommend and will definately be going back again.
