Ideal for walking and cycling, with easy access to Lake Windermere and the attractions of the Lake District. Shop 3½ miles, pub 1 mile, restaurant 2½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with French doors/dining room/kitchen /screened off bedroom with 6ft double or two 3ft beds. Beams and wooden floors throughout. Step to shower room with toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. We stayed at the Nook from the 15th June and we had mixed weather. But the cottage was absolutely 5*. Any rainy days were spent relaxing in the wonderfully comfortable cottage. On the sunny days the cottage was an excellent base for wandering and days out. In the evenings we returned and sat out in our own little garden. Victor and Deb were very friendly and hospitable and made sure we enjoyed our privacy. No expense has been spared on the decor and all the kitchen amenities. If we forgot it, they already had it. We loved our stay and will be happy to go back any time of the year. June 2012.
  2. A lovely property, well placed for visiting southern lakes. Owners were very welcoming. June 2012.
  3. Lovely Cottage. Very comfortable and cosy. Would definitely visit again. April 2012.
  4. Our stay at Charcoal Nook was our first in the Lake District. The property was perfectly placed for exploring the area. This was one of the nicest places we have stayed in. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed and more. The owners were very helpful, but left us to our own devices. We would recommend this to others and would like to stay again. April 2012.
  5. Charcoal Nook is the ideal place to stay, it was quiet and relaxing but within easy reach of plenty to do. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and decorated to a really high standard. The owners were lovely and welcoming with some good tips and directions, without being at all intrusive. We visited Bowness, Rydal, Grassmere, Tarn Hows, Ruskins House, the Arts and Crafts House and the Beatrix Potter museum at Hawkeshead, all of which were excellent. Aug 2011.
  6. We spent our honeymoon in Charcoal Nook and we couldn’t have hoped for a more lovely week! The cottage was gorgeous - beautifully furnished, and in a lovely peaceful part of the Lakes, within an easy walk or cycle of the east side of Coniston Water. There is nothing we would have changed - it was perfect and we hope to visit again soon! July 2011.
  7. The cottage was beautiful and the small garden was lovely. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed - wished we had brought coffee with us for the espresso maker! The owners were great, as previous review said they were helpful but gave us our own space. It was a good location for the southern and western part of the Lakes - we usually stay further north, but climbed lots of great fells we had not been to before. We will definitely been recommending this spot to friends. July 2011.
  8. Charcoal Nook is a very cosy and comfortable place to stay in a beautiful location. The accommodation has been very well thought out with a well equipped kitchen area, comfortable lounge and even a small garden. We would love to return to Charcoal Nook for another holiday. July 2011.
  9. This property was superb, and the owners perfect hosts without being intrusive. They were very welcoming and helpful with tips and directions to places of interest. It was truly a wonderful restful holiday and we would love to return at some time. June 2011.
