Property Description

This detached Victorian lodge is set in the grounds of the owners home, on the main road between Manchester and Huddersfield. Situated in 21/4 acres of grounds, which include a river with fishing just 200 yards away. Close to Marsden Moor (NT) providing excellent walks. Marsden is a small Pennine village on the edge of the Peak District and boasts a lively jazz festival in October. Marsden and the local area is used as a TV location for ‘Where The Heart Is’ whilst Holmfirth and the surrounding countryside, a short drive away, may well be seen in ‘Last of the Summer Wine.’ The perfect country holiday retreat. Horse riding and golf 11/2 miles. Shop and pub 1/2 mile.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

Lower ground floor: Cellar. Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. Steep, narrow stairs to first floor: 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with shower over small bath and toilet.

Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Electric cooker. Fridge/freezer. Washing machine and tumble dryer in cellar. Shared garden. Parking (1 car). Cycle store. NB: Unfenced river at bottom of garden.

  3. We have been here twice now and the stay has been fantastic both times. The welcome continues to be warm and owners always helpful. The local restaurant is a favourite of ours and the nearby town has shops with lots of variety, a few nice pubs and some great cafes. The area has some great walks for hikers or just people looking for a wander by a stream. We can’t recommend this place enough and will be returning sometime soon. Jan 2012.

  5. We found the location of the Lodge very convenient for walking in the hills and, if the weather was not conducive to walking, then Manchester was only a short train journey away. The local village of Marsden was within easy walking distance and had all the necessary requirements. Dec 2011.
