Property Description

Within walking distance of Barmouth and Blue Flag Beach
Spectacular sea and mountain views over Cardigan Bay

Commanding spectacular views over Cardigan Bay, these four holiday properties enjoy an elevated position nestled beside a mountain stream, accessed by a steep shared drive. Woodland Roost (ref WN72) is a detached hideaway located within a woodland garden and Cedar Rest (ref WN82) and Coastal Retreat (ref 28519) are delightful wings of the owners’ 16th-century hillside farmhouse. Ceilwart Cottage (ref WN73) is situated in a beautiful, terraced garden with patio, BBQ and patio furniture, and has strong green credentials with its solar panels for hot water, a ground source heat pump for the comfortable central heating and cosy sheep’s’ wool insulation, not forgetting the triple glazed windows and the UV filtered natural spring water. They all overlook the owners’ field, and are only a mile away from the town of Barmouth, with its choice of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. A steep walk across the road takes you to the promenade and a beautiful sandy beach. Close by are all the amenities of the Snowdonia National Park, Harlech with its castle and golf course, Portmeirion, and steam trains run from Porthmadog. They are secluded but not isolated, with horse riding, fishing and mountain bike centres within an easy drive. Shops, pubs and restaurants 1 mile.

Ground floor: Living room with low ceilings and beam. Dining/kitchen/garden room with patio doors. 1 double bedroom. Shower room. First floor: Second living room with patio doors. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, both with sloping ceiling. Bathroom with shower over roll top bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (no fuel provided). Central heating from ground source heat pump. Cot. High chair. Aga (for cooking and hot water). Combi oven/grill. Laundry room with washing machine. Dishwasher. Terraced garden. Barbecue. NB: Some internal steps on ground floor. Water feature, steps and terraces in the garden. There are spiral stairs from sun terrace to the garden.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Some stunning views of the bay. There is a small stream or mini waterfall that passes through the garden, which produces a relaxing atmosphere. The property itself was clean inside-out. Driving up to the property was a bit tough though as the hill is very steep and the lane leading to the cottage is narrow but empty as it’s a private path. There was a mobile BBQ stand in the patio, which we took advantage of (got our own coal and BBQ accessories). Apart from its nice sandy beaches and stunning views, Barmouth doesn’t really offer much. The locals didn’t seem too tourist friendly either. However, the location is a strategic base if you wish to explore Snowdonia and its wonderful scenery and other historic sites nearby including Harlech Castle (only 20 minutes away by car!). Mount Snowdon’s main walk trails are about an hour away by car. The owner of the cottage was ever so friendly and was flexible with us in terms of our arrival and departure times and really made us feel welcome in the cottage and its surrounding lands. Overall, it’s a great cottage, very clean, nicely furnished, just the right facilities and accessories. Would go there again for sure! May 2012.
  2. Beautiful accommodation, spacious and with the most amazing views. Quite a climb up the drive, but worth it. Buses pass the bottom of the drive and the railway station is a short taxi ride. April 2012.
  3. Very warm! Good quality kitchen equipment and television. Oct 2010.
  4. We liked the view, the kitchen, the size, the area, the proximity of Snowden. Sept 2010.
  5. Great locality, close to the beach. Accommodation just right for 2 families. Aug 2009.
  6. A peaceful location and very helpful owner. Wonderful views. May 2009.
  7. The sea views were excellent and the kitchen breakfast room opened onto a lovely sun terrace. July 2009.
  8. The holiday enhanced by the wonderful weather and stunning views over Barmouth Bay. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was lovely. Sept 2008.
