Ideal for a relaxing family holiday, the lawn is peppered with flowers, fruit and olive trees with a dining gazebo framing the private swimming pool. Viterbo has plenty to offer within its medieval walls including the Papal Palace and the characteristic San Pellegrino quarter, famed for its antiques shops. Lake Vico is minutes away and Lake Bolsena makes for an excellent day out with boat trips and water sports. The seaside is an hour away or visit medieval villages, Renaissance villas and gardens, and fabulous ancient sites such as Hadrian’s Villa and the Etruscan Tarquinia. Rome is an hour by car or local train from the village of Vetralla, 4km.

  1. Quiet relaxing accommodation. Lovely garden and pool which are very well maintained. Would benefit from either air conditioning or mosquito mesh (so the windows can be open at night) in the bedrooms, as very hot in the summer. Homely. Kitchen small but very well equipped. Well placed for day trips to Rome, Orvieto, the mediterraniean coast. Approachable owner but English limited. June 2012.
  2. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Property would benefit from air conditioning. A car is essential and do not park on the lawn, only use the hard standing at top of driveway. Train tickets and stamps available from the small Tabacchi shop on left hand side before the level crossing. If going to Rome he will suggest San Pietro station and ask if you want an inclusive ticket for train, metro and buses. Alternatively, drive to Valle De Aurelia and catch the Metro from there. The local Pizzaria is good but again they don’t speak English but we managed. Local dogs bark a lot but not all the time. The garden, pool and barbeque area are beautiful. We went to Zoomarine a water park with rollercoasters. It is about 1hr 20 mins drive south west of Rome, take your swimming gear. Coming back may take longer due to traffic on the Rome ring road. Large supermarket (Ipercoop) available on Via Cassia North, Viterbo about 15 mins drive and there are numerous Lidl stores in the area. July 2011.

  4. The Casa Magola was beautiful, the gardens exceptional and every thing was perfect. You do need to make it clear that a car is big asset as the transport to the lovely villages around is not the best, also a detailed map of the area would help as the Italians have a problem with road signs!   6. The best thing about this property is the outside space. The garden is beautiful and spacious and with the lovely Italian climate you can live outside. The property is in a rural area close to a small village and within easy reach of the local town with good shopping facilities. It is off the main road, quiet and rural without being in the middle of nowhere. Aug 2008.
  7. We were easily able to combine a few days in Rome with a pleasant drive to the villa. We found a good variety of things to see and do in Lazio and nearby Tuscany and Umbria. Monte Argentario was an absolute jewel and well worth the drive, with beautiful harbours, turquoise sea and scenic drives. Orvieto was a lovely hilltop town with plenty of character. The owner was a wonderful lady who really could not do enough for us. She provided us with several welcome items such as ice-cream in the freezer. The villa was spotless, and the garden was truly beautiful. It was such a calm and relaxing place. All in all, a lovely property in an area that has something for everyone. Would definitely go back next year. June 2008.
