Property Description

The Jurassic Coast is just 1½ miles away with superb scenic walking, along with use of 4 acres of grounds and footpaths. Each cottage is finished to a high standard offering very comfortable holiday accommodation and is set in the same smart courtyard area as the owners’ homes. Further east is the Victorian seaside town of Weymouth, with Blue Flag beach, sea fishing, windsurfing, Sealife Centre and two RSPB nature reserves. Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool are great places for a family day out. Dorchester, the county town also known as Thomas Hardy’s ‘Casterbridge’ is 30 minutes’ drive and has a lively weekly market and beautiful Maiden Castle. To the west is the market town of Bridport which was Thomas Hardy’s ‘Port Bredy’ and has the twice weekly market as featured in the popular TV programme River Cottage. The picturesque harbours of West Bay are a great place for fishing. Lyme Regis is an attractive seaside resort which enjoys a dramatic setting with high cliffs, landslips and handsome harbour, known as The Cobb. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Well appointed cottage in lovely village. Friendly local pub. Children had a great time ’crabbing’ in Bridport harbour. Highly recommended. April 2012.
  2. Very pleased with the cottage. Was perfect for our 2 young families. Good size, fixtures/fittings and comfort. Nice big lounge and fire to warm us up when heating wasn’t on. Would definitely recommend and would consider returning. My only two very minor comments would be I) the chopping knives were very blunt and ii) when the heating was on it was far too hot (although we did turn the radiators down in each room which sorted it). Dec 2011.
  3. Very impressed with the property - clean, warm and comfortable. Brilliant power shower in the main bathroom! It’s a little bit ’out in the sticks’ and not as close to the beach as we’d anticipated but is in a beautiful village so definitely worth the extra time trying to find it. Nov 2011.
  4. I could not fault this property in any way. It was especially useful to have the adjacent large field to walk the dog and for the children to play in. July 2011.
  5. The accommodation was very well presented and in a very nice location. Walks nearby and Dorset coast and attractions within easy reach. Feb 2011.
  6. An extremely well maintained and comfortable property. Dec 2010.
  7. Plenty of space, boot room which was also useful for coats etc. Downstairs toilet and one en-suite upstairs plus bathroom. Easy to keep clean. Oct 2010.
  8. Lovely cottage, very well equipped and in great location. Sep 2010.
  9. It was very comfortable, excellently equipped, well located. Aug 2010.
  10. Well equipped, and very clean. Super quiet country location, nice round walk to coast - good local pub. Short drive to main coastal road. Feb 2010.
  11. I have never found a better equipped property. This was our second time there and we will be back. Dec 2009.
  12. We have stayed there before - it’s excellent in all respects - and we hope to come again. Dec 2009.
  13. It was brand new, immaculate, very clean and had all of the facilities we needed. We especially liked the stair gates and high chair. Oct 2009.
  14. This was the best equipped, cosiest, most comfortable self-catering cottage we have stayed in! Just great - we are returning there for New Year! Oct 2009.
  15. Very well equipped; particularly the kitchen. Extremely comfortable, pleasant surroundings. Sept 2009.
  16. Lots do see and do within a half hour drive. Shame the beaches were not up to much, unless you went to Weymouth or Lyme Regis. We were looking forward to a day or two on the beach with our grandchildren. Enclosed and secure garden for young children. High standard of decor and fittings. July 2009.
  17. Very quiet but not too far from amenities. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 children - we were not falling over one another all the time. Kitchen was a dream, much better than my own!! Ample room for car parking. We were aware that the owners were next door. but they were very unobtrusive.. The cottage was well-furnished, with all amenities required for a family. It was situated in a quiet village and was furnished to a high level. July 2009.
  18. Excellent cottage, very well equipped especially the kitchen. Spotlessly clean. Helpful owner. Great for families. May 2009.
  19. Excellent accommodation, clean and comfortable, with a beautifully equipped kitchen. I would have been very happy to live in it all year round! Sept 2008.
  20. The property was well arranged for families with small children, the dogs were welcome and sensibly organised. The owner and his brother were welcoming, friendly and helpful. the village is gorgeous. March 2008.
