Property Description

Carnethic Penthouse is set in the award-winning gardens of a Regency country house on the edge of Fowey on Cornwall’s south coast. The holiday property was awarded the VisitEngland 5 Star Gold Award 2012/3 and it enjoys shared use of a heated 15m swimming pool, sauna, hot tub and changing room. The pool lies within beautiful gardens, set to lawn with shrubs, trees and plants and the pool house has a retractable glass roof, which can be opened to enjoy the sun or closed to maintain a perfect environment to enjoy the warm water of the pool.
The Penthouse lies on the edge of historic Fowey, a picturesque town with quaint, narrow streets as well as steps and alleys that lead down to the quays and estuary. Visitors can enjoy browsing around the array of shops, restaurants and pubs and sampling the local seafood specialities. The town hosts an annual regatta, and sailing enthusiasts can take advantage of boat hire and a sailing school. In May each year, the renowned Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature is held in Fowey and St Austell Bay, celebrating the life and works of the author and the association of her work with Cornwall and Fowey. The delightful fishing port of Polperro is well worth a visit, with its whitewashed cottages lining narrow alleys and an assortment of shops selling local crafts and freshly-caught seafood. Not to be missed by any visitor to Cornwall is a visit to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the educational Eden Project.
Sea fishing, diving, sailing, kayaking, dolphin spotting and river trips can all be arranged in the town. Shops 500 yards, pub ¾ mile.

  9. We found the location excellent. 15 minutes walk to the beach all downhill and an excellent walk to the town centre. Hop on the town bus (bus passes accepted) on ride back to the pritty bus stop and walk 200 yards, or ask for your drop off point and the driver will oblige. The property was in a quiet location with excellent gardens and pool (heated). Could not fault the property or the proprietor. May 2010.

  13. The apartment was superbly well equipped, the lounge furnishings, kitchen and bathrooms were finished to the highest standard I have ever seen in any holiday accommodation. Location in respect of beautiful accessible walks without getting in the car or with going going a few miles to other walks. We enjoyed following the All Saints and National Trust walks and finding unspoilt and uncommercialised beaches, and enjoy doing things without the need to spend much money to enjoy ourselves, inspite of the weather. Beautiful and very high standard [alot of the furniture and fittings are of a higher standard than our own!] Felt like a 5 star accommodation even with fresh flowers in the sitting room and kitchen. Pleasantly surprised to find some essentials left for us, such as some coffee, tea, milk, mustard and ketchup and cleaning materials. July 2009.
