Property Description

On the sheltered south-east coast of Mull, between Craignure and Iona and overlooking the River Lussa and Loch Spelve, these two wonderful properties (refs USK and SAAX) enjoy a glorious secluded position within the 4,000-acre Ardura Estate. Bordered by the River Lussa to the north and east, and protected to the west by the masses of Ben Fhada and Glas Ben, the estate is home to highland cattle and sheep, as well as an abundance of other wildlife, including red deer, eagles, buzzards, seals and otters. The estate is recognised as a European Heritage Site for its otter population and ancient Caledonian oak forest. Craignure (6 miles) has a food shop, garage, post office, tourist information centre, pub and restaurant, and is the car ferry port to Oban. Ardura is a great base for visiting Iona, Tobermory and Duart Castle. Excellent hillwalking in the area. Nearby are a swimming pool, gym, health spa, golf courses and sandy beaches. Shops 6 miles.

Step to entrance. Open-plan living/dining room with open fire, rugs on tiled floor and fitted kitchen with tiled floor. Utility. Steep stairs to first floor: Two bedrooms; one double and one twin, each with built-in wardrobes and Velux windows. Bathroom with ¾-size bath and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Although we were aware there was no shower, the bath is rather small with high sides and may be difficult to use for some people. There is an excellent selection of quality games, jigsaws etc for use. June 2012.
  2. Lorraine got the cottage ready early for us as we were passing on our way to the RSPB Eagle watch so we could put some foods into the fridge. Always a friendly welcome and the cottage is a real delight. May 2012.
  3. Fabulous cottage in beautiful surroundings. Located in a beautiful area surrounded by woods, hills and mountains and close to a loch. Comfy cottage with everything you would need to have a great holiday. Wood burning fire on chilly days was lovely. Lots of wildlife to see on and around the island. Boat trip to Iona a must. St. Columb Hotel on Iona very welcoming to day trippers especially on chilly wet days! Eagle watching with the RSPB a treat. May 2012.
  4. A beautiful little cottage in a great location. Perfect for those who like to be outside of town. Aug 2011.
  5. We had an excellent time on Mull and we could not have asked for anything else from our cottage. Lorraine was very helpful and it was great to turn up and find the key in the door, that told us everything about the island and its people. We will definitely return next year. May 2011.
  6. This is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Its open fire makes it very cosy on dark nights and the rooms are an excellent size. It is well positioned for travelling around the island. We will stay there again. Oct 2010.
  7. Good location on the island, convenient for the ferry terminal, swimming pool etc. Charming property, lots of character yet warm and comfortable. Sept 2010.
  8. Well thought out, lavishly equipped with high specification. June 2010.
  9. Everything about the cottage was perfect. May 2010.
  10. The accommodation is very comfortable, peaceful, warm when cold / cool when hot weather, has very good facilities for preparing and cooking food, with all the main utensils being provided. A lack of a shower was not a problem, but would recommend potential guests to take a tap push on shower head with them for convenience. Otherwise it was just excellent. May 2010.
  11. Cosy and clean, well maintained. Oct 2009.
  12. Home from Home - very comfortable. Quality and attention to detail was exceptional. All our needs were catered for. Sept 2009.
  13. We loved the house, it felt like home. Peaceful, nicely furnished and complete. July 2009.
  14. Lovely cottage in an excellent location. The local people are very friendly and helpful, and there is plenty to do through a week’s stay. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage. Very good condition and clean throughout. July 2009.
  15. We really enjoyed our recent stay. The cottage was very well appointed in a fantastic and quiet setting. Very convenient to the ferry terminal and for touring around the island. April 2009.
  16. Home from home peaceful. Warm welcome from housekeeper. May 2009.
  17. The cottage is equipped to the highest standard and is very comfortable. The caretaker is wonderful and very helpful. May 2009.
  18. The cottage is ideally located for touring the whole island. Aug 2008.
  19. Excellent accommodation on a secluded island. Sept 2008.
  20. A lovely cottage in a beautiful situation. Very friendly welcome from the caretaker and the bottle of wine on arrival was much appreciated. All facilities were excellent and beds and furnishings were of a much higher standard than in many properties in this country and abroad. Altogether, a true home-from-home. June 2008.
