Property Description

In a beautiful setting with uninterrupted views over open countryside, Burns Cottage has been created from traditional farm buildings and offers well appointed, versatile accommodation. Primarily on a single level (but with some split-level galleried bedrooms), it has been traditionally furnished and decorated throughout to a high standard. Special features of the property include a swimming pool, sauna, and games room. There is also a full catering service available for special occasions.
Greta Bridge is a landmark hamlet, south of the A66 trans-Peninne road and only 4 miles south-east of the market town of Barnard Castle. Built on the site of a Roman settlement, and beside the pretty River Greta, is the neighbouring Morritt Arms Hotel (a 17th-century coaching inn, where Charles Dickens stayed whilst researching for his novel Nicholas Nickleby), which serves delicious food.
There is much to do and see in the surrounding area with Darlington a mere 18 miles distant. Within an hour’s drive there are many racecourses including Sedgefield, Catterick, Wetherby, York and Newcastle to name but a few. Scotch Corner is 9 miles, and Teeside 30 miles. Wonderful walks from the cottage. Shop 3½ miles, pub/restaurant 50 yards.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Clean and tidy. May 2010.

  4. Excellent for family celebrations/ reunions. Very large to enable people to have space. Feb 2008.
  5. While the accommodation was excellent and very much as expected/hoped, the attractions of the Teesdale area were a delightful surprise with a wide range of both well presented "natural-beauty" and fascinating and stimulating "organised" visits, all within an hour’s drive of the cottage. Grandparents, parents and kids all had a great time. Feb 2008.
  6. The cottage was very high quality, would definitely recommend it. Sept 2007.
  7. This cottage provides excellent facilities for a large family gathering and the proximity of the local pub/restaurant was an added bonus. Delightful rural surroundings - the setting for a relaxing week. Aug 2008.
  8. Burns cottage was fantastic. It was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We were a large party of four families but the cottage was so big we all had our own space which was great. July 2008.
