Property Description

Buddleia is a fabulous, well-furnished, modern holiday property of very generous size, superbly suited to a large family for summer holidays and family gatherings year-round. The owners have renovated it to a high standard to create a wonderful, detached home set in the village of West Charleton, between the riverside town of Kingsbridge and the wide expanse of beach at Slapton Sands, on the South Devon Coast. It has its own private gated driveway and large, enclosed, level, lawned garden - very secluded and south facing. Skirting the rear of the property is a large decked area with glass balustrade, table (seats 12) and steps down to the lawn. To the front is a small pebble Mediterranean-style patio area. This is a very family-friendly holiday home; the large kitchen/dining room forms the main hub of the house and - with its large breakfast bar and bar stools - creates a good social area for cooking, chatting and dining. The separate living room features a 42in plasma TV and wood-burning stove - ideal for cosy nights in during autumn and winter; in summer the large French doors can open up onto the decking. For children, there is an outdoor play area with a slide and swings. West Charleton lies on the A379 - one of the many villages en route from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth. Within 20-30 minutes’ drive are many popular and well-loved locations in South Devon: the yachting haven of Salcombe, the rugged cliffs and tiny coves at Hope Cove and Thurlestone, Bantham Beach (popular with surfers), the busy market town of Kingsbridge, Totnes and Modbury, the famous beaches of Slapton Sands, working fishing village of Beesands, East Prawle - surrounded by NT coastline and close to the Start Point Lighthouse, the little sandy bays at East Portlemouth and the historic maritime town of Dartmouth. Shop 1/2 mile, pub 50 yards.

Large entrance hall. Spacious living room with wood-burning stove, plasma TV and doors to large decked area. Spacious, well-equipped kitchen/dining room with range (for cooking), American-style f/freezer, TV and doors to decked area. 1. Excellent property containing every amenity both for adults and children. 5 star. June 2012.
  2. Accommodation highly suitable for our four-generational family holiday from ground floor bedrooms to thick walls for babies rooms! April 2012.
  3. This is a fantastic house with a brilliant, safe garden. It is suitable for all ages with lovely spacious rooms, nothing fussy but all totally in order and just what you hope for in a holiday property. We have been to Buddleia twice now and just love it! The owners should be praised for all the work they must do to make it such a special place. April 2012.
  4. Very well appointed property, will not disapoint. Excellent pub across the road. April 2012.
  5. The property was very suitable for a mixed age-group party, ranging from 93 to 24. The kitchen and dining room were easy to cook and eat in and having two en-suite downstairs bedrooms was a real bonus. We found the pub across the road very friendly and welcoming, just as a village pub should be. We also used the shop in the next village which sold absolutely everything! The owner also made a special effort as it was my parents 65th wedding anniversary and she had decorated the dining room with banners and a balloon, a lovely touch. March 2012.
  6. A superb, modern holiday home that suits large families or groups. Good open plan kitchen dinner and large lounge. Very clean. Friendly, helpful owners. Good parking and wonderful views. Lovely walk from village along estuary to Frogmore. Feb 2012.
  7. A lovely house with wonderful views. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and had constant hot water. We had a problem with the heating and the owner came within 20 mins and sorted it out. We would like to go back and would have no hesitation in recommending it. Dec 2011.
  8. We, as a group have been renting houses for some 25 years, on and off. This was undoubtedly the best. We were, however amazingly lucky with the weather. Oct 2011.
  9. This is a fantastic property for a family to visit. The owners have thought of everything and Buddleia is superbly well-kept. The decor is amazing inside and the garden is brilliant and beautiful. It is an unfussy yet wonderful house and the garden is very secure for children. A fabulous place to have a holiday in! April 2011.
  10. The whole stay at Buddleia was fantastic, the villagers were so friendly, the pub across the road had the most wonderful staff who accompanied our every need, they were amazing. We arrived slightly earlier than planned to Buddleia however the owners were lovely and let us sit on the decking, taking in the stunning surroundings and views, whilst they finished off cutting the grass and giving the house the finishing touches before we entered to start our holiday, when we walked in we were totally and utterly speechless, people say nothing’s perfect but i can truly say Buddleia is, without a doubt. Thanks to everyone. May 2011.
  11. Really lovely holiday property, well-furnished, well-equipped. Very comfortable and great for our large family gathering where we wanted to cook and eat together in a sociable setting. All sorts of extras that you wouldn’t normally get in a holiday rental. We didn’t have children with us this time, but there was a cupboard filled with toys and books for any visiting children. We intend coming back to this property in a couple of years for a reunion. March 2011.
  12. Very stylish, well equipt rooms. Very spacious - high quality accommodation. Amazing gardens, excellent social space. Oct 2010.
  13. Good family house with plenty of room for everyone and a very sociable kitchen/dining area. Sept 2010.
  14. The property was relatively new and was perfectly equipped. The rooms were large and well furnished. There was an ideal garden for children to kick a football and a lovely deck area with large table to sit outside. A cupboard full of toys and games. Wonderful kitchen/dining room. Excellent views. The owner was more than helpful and as it was a celebration holiday of our Golden Wedding for all our family had even decorated the house with some banners and a gas filled balloon! We highly recommend it. Aug 2010.
  15. The property was brilliant, well equipped, fantastic view and lots of space with quality finish. Absolutely a 5 star property. April 2010.
  16. First class - very well equipped, comfortable and spacious. Dec 2009.
  17. The photos online didn’t do it justice, it was far better in the flesh. Dec 2009.
  18. Excellent throughout property is finished to a high standard with quality furniture well deserved of a luxury marker on the website. Despite appearing expensive it was well worth the premium price. I have and will continue to recommend to others. All round excellent experience with the wow factor. Nov 2009.
