Property Description

This stylishly furnished and decorated first floor holiday apartment is 400 metres from the shores of Wastwater (voted Britain’s best view 2007). Surrounded by fells such as Scafell Pike and Great Gable the location is idyllic, in the heart of glorious walking and climbing countryside. The apartment is close to the Cumbrian Coast, St Bees with its long sandy beach and RSPB nature reserve, the town of Whitehaven, Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass, Eskdale and Boot railway. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

External open tread stairs to entrance. All on first floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with tiled floor. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Shower room with toilet.

NSH, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Digital TV. DVD and small library. CD. Electric cooker. Combi microwave/oven/grill. 24 hr laundry service at cost. Dishwasher.Telephone-incoming calls only. Small lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (3 cars). Natural water supply from spring. No smoking. Friday to Friday.

  1. Very pleasant apartment, in a beautiful location. Remote, so particularly suitable for walkers or those wanting a quiet holiday. Only drawback was limited fridge/freezing space, not mentioned in property write-up. Otherwise very comfortable and cleanly presented, with quality fittings. May 2012.

  5. Lovely cosy accommodation in a beautiful setting near Wastwater. If you like to be away from it all this is the place for you, peace and quiet and wonderful walks from the door. The apartment is well furnished, comfortable, warm and very clean. This was our second stay and we will definately be back. Sept 2011.
  6. Very well equipped - we really appreciated the extra little touches too, like coffee, biscuits and milk on arrival. The information file is the best we have seen - very comprehensive. It was spotless, extremely comfortable and given that we got soaked on a couple of occasions, lots of towels, a heated towel rail and electric heaters meant that we could dry our properly too. It is perfectly placed for walking in the Wasdale/Eskdale area. Aug 2011.

  8. Perfectly situated for lovers of the lake district of yesteryear. Plenty of walking routes nearby,we did 4 fullday walks without getting into the car. Some walks are off the well beaten tracks and you can walk all day without meeting anyone. Then again there is the Scafell Group if you like plenty of company on the hills! June 2011.
  9. Lovely location for hill walkers away from the usual Lake District crowds. Great to be down at Wastwater in a few minutes walk or for children to play in a lovely stream not far from the house. Good local shop and bakery. Also nice beach at Seascale. June 2011.

  13. Buckbarrow was decorated and furnished to a high standard and appeared upon arrival to exceed our expectations based upon the images shown on the website. We feel it is of high priority that our accommodation is warm and comfortable especially during the winter months and Buckbarrow fulfilled our best hopes. Oct 2010.
  14. On arriving, the location took my breath away, it was fantastic, the Screes were magnificent. The apartment was so welcoming, and beautifully presented. On a sunny evening the light shone through the apartment, and on a rainy day the apartment felt warm and cosy. Cannot wait to return. Aug 2010.
