Property Description

"Peace and tranquillity set amongst Yorkshire’s finest countryside and long stretches of magnificent beaches..."

Steeped in history these former barn buildings have been lovingly restored using all of the original materials. Presented to a very high standard and offering spacious accommodation, each holiday cottage has its own enclosed garden and decked patio area for sole use, to while away the hours overlooking stunning paddocks where deer and foxes play. Guests have free use of the owners’ private indoor heated swimming-pool, a communal games room and a children’s play area. The complex is surrounded by open countryside and a newly planted broad leaf woodland area, and is only four miles from the pretty village of Brandesburton. Struncheon Hill Farm is a haven for those who enjoy having fun around water with a river, lake and pond nearby. Fishing, canal cruises and a Jet Ski and Diving School are less than half a mile from the door. Visitors will find locally an 18-hole golf course, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, a parachute and gliding centre, and an RSPB bird sanctuary.
Just a short drive leads to the traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey with miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches, colourful promenades, inns and tea rooms in abundance, offering the perfect family day out. Walking and cycling tracks surround the cottages and there is easy access to the Yorkshire Wolds - one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets. Robin Hoods Bay is well worth a visit, where children will love the chance to search for fossils amongst the rock pools. For stunning views, Flamborough Head is a must and visitors will delight in the puffin colonies that cling to the cliff side. For an alternative day trip, York will not disappoint and meandering along the cobbled streets of ‘The Shambles’, packed with curio and antique shops, as well as many museums including The National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre will keep both adults and children alike amused for hours.
Explore British heritage when visiting stately homes and halls such as Burton Agnes Hall with its large collection of Monet and Renoir paintings, or Sledmere Hall with its beautiful gardens only a
30-minute drive away. The attractive market town of Beverley 12 miles away, where visitors can enjoy ancient cobbled streets, quaint shops and friendly local people, completes the area of peace and tranquility surrounding Struncheon Hill Farm. Shops, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

  1. We could not have asked for more. There was nothing I would have changed. Thank you. June 2012.
  2. Wonderful location for walking and birdwatching, lots to do for young children. The pool and games room were fantastic. Dec 2011.
  3. Beautiful holiday home in a gorgeous location. The pool was fantastic. The games room is an excellent extra too. Aug 2011.
  4. The property was done to a very high standard with all the home comforts. Dec 2010.
  5. It had an enclosed garden which is useful for the dogs. It had excellent walks around such that there was not always need to go out. Sept 2010.
  6. Nicely presented cottage - modern decor and facilities with a homely feel. Liked the fact that it had its own enclosed space separating it from other cottages on the property. Excellent pool at a very nice temperature! Loads of open space for children/dogs to run around in. Sept 2010.
  7. The property was well maintained, clean and very spacey for my family. The location was very remote which we didnt have a problem with, but others may find too remote. Very quiet peaceful, and tranquil once again very relaxing! Oct 2010.
  8. I liked the style of the property, with high ceilings, exposed beams, wooden floors, upstairs master suite. Kitchen was fully equipped and second bathroom great. Downstairs bedrooms on small side but adequate. July 2010.
  9. This was our second visit to Struncheon Hill Farm, but the first to "Broad Leaf" The property was very clean, spacious and warm. June 2010.
  10. Enclosed garden good for dogs &/or children. Good facilities - dishwasher, washing machine, dvd player. Feb 2010.
  11. It met our needs perfectly... as described on the web site. Dec 2009.
  12. Well designed, attractively presented, clean and comfortable. Good family facilities including lots of outside space & children’s playground. Great playroom. Lovely swimming pool but a bit spartan eg no seating around the edge; also only available during the day no early morning or evening sessions. Kitchen equipment bare minimum. Oct 2009.
  13. Clean, tidy with all mod cons and it was different. Sept 2009.
  14. Very nice conversion, little extras that made it better for a family of five: large fridge freezer, washing machine, all cleaning goods - dishwasher tablets etc. Nice to have your own little driveway with gate to close off your space. Aug 2009.
  15. Broad leaf is a fantastic property in a wonderful location. Considerable thought has gone into making the property and area a great environment for children. Swing parks, large open areas, and horses close by ticked all the boxes for our young family. April 2009.
  16. A real idyllic getaway but near enough to towns and facilities to have the best of both worlds. It was great going for bike rides straight from the house and the children loved nipping out in their pajama’s to say goodnight to the horses and ponies. Being on a farm and away from the roads and other houses (apart from the other holiday cottages on site) made it much more of a holiday as it was like another world. We spent a lot of time outside, having picnics, flying kites, building sandcastles and enjoying probably the best fish and chips in the world (on the seafront at Filey) but you could easily have a more "touristy" experience if you chose to. Make it what you want. Who needs Airports? May 2008.
  17. Simon the owner was a very pleasant helpful guy on places to visit etc. Nothing was too much trouble. Oct 2007.
