Property Description

A pretty single-storey cottage, in an idyllic setting high in the fells above Brough. Adjacent to a stone-built barn (another holiday cottage) and adjacent to the owners’ home, the detached holiday property has been renovated to a high standard, with exposed beams and stone flagged floors. There is a large private hot tub situated in the rear garden with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Splendid walking in the area and a good touring base for the Lakes, Dales and Eden Valley. Only 3/4 mile to the A66. Restaurant, shops and coarse fishing at Brough (3 miles). Kirkby Stephen 7 miles.

  1. A wonderful location very peaceful even though it was only about half a mile from the A66. Our two dogs loved the freedom of being able to come and go to the garden and drive and be totally secure. Would certainly go back. Sept 2012.
  2. A lovely cottage, small, cosy and comfortable in a very secluded location with fantastic views across to Nine standards Rigg and Wild Boar Fell. It has a wonderful log fire which is easy to light. My only reservation is that the footpaths in the immediate vicinity are in a very neglected state, hard to find and in places very muddy. There are few good restaurants or pubs nearby, so you really have to venture further afield for food and drink or self cater. It is an ideal retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world and totally unwind, this was our second visit in a row. July 2012.
  3. The cottage was ideal for us and our 2 dogs. It was extremely well equipped and the information provided was very detailed - even down to what to do if we got snowed in - it is quite remote! We didn’t want for anything and it was so cosy - unfortunately the weather was a bit wild at times but it didn’t matter as we knew we had a lovely place to retreat to after our walks. It was very quiet, surrounded by sheep, lambs, curlew and lapwing and ideal for walks with the dogs - we didn’t explore as much from the cottage as we could have done because of the weather. We explored the area and found good walks around Kirby Stephen and Appleby and some good dog friendly pubs doing good food (for humans!). April 2012.
  4. A wonderful week away in a lovely spot. The remoteness was just what we needed and the views were wonderful from every window. The garden was fully enclosed and great for our dog. A perfect location to explore and we can’t wait to go back and stay again. March 2012.

  7. The Cottage was is a quiet location, but close to enough to other towns for a visit. The scenery around the cottage was beautiful. The cottage itself was outstanding, everything you needed was there and it was spotlessly clean. Our Golden Labrador loved all the walks up the hills. We would certainly go back again. Oct 2011.

  9. This accommodation provided everything a reasonable person could require in a holiday home. Kitchen well equipped, plenty of hot water, comfortable seating and bedding and excellent views.   15. Surrounded by farmland and views of the hills, this cottage enjoyed real peace and quiet. The adjoining properties were unoccupied during our stay and we heard only the call of curlews. The open fire was excellent - lit easily and warmed the whole room. An excellent base for walks in the Eden Valley or on the high Pennines. June 2010.
