Property Description

Nestling peacefully in a rural hamlet location, adjacent to a quiet country lane opposite fields, these beautifully presented holiday properties provide a wonderful retreat from which to discover the delights of the island. Situated in the grounds of a Grade II listed thatched cottage, they have been fully refurbished and stylishly furnished. They have exposed stone and beams and offer an ideal retreat for couples - perfectly located for keen walkers and cyclists. Chale village, 1½ miles, lies at the foot of St Catherines Hill, and close by there are walks along miles of Heritage coastline, beaches and country pubs. Within easy reach are St Catherines Lighthouse, pretty villages of Shorwell Brighstone, Chale and Niton and amazing rock formations of the Needles. Blackgang Chine and Yarmouth Harbour are also within easy reach as well as numerous other holiday attractions. Picturesque thatched rooftop villages such as Old Shanklin, Godshill and Brighstone serve ice cream and cream teas, and many of the seaside resorts serve freshly caught fish of the day. This temperate island has towering cliffs, beaches, bays and coves, farmlands, river valleys and steep ravines, all linked by a 500-mile network of footpaths including 68 miles of coastal walks with spectacular views which are all accessed easily. For the outdoor enthusiast, there are also golf courses, riding, mountain biking, fishing, sailing, crabbing, surfing, kite flying, hang gliding and jet skiing. Shop and pubs approximately 1½ miles.

Living/dining room/kitchen with beams, sloping pitched ceiling and exposed stonework. Double bedroom with 6ft bed (can form two singles) and en-suite jet spa contemporary shower room and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Lovely, cosy well equipped cottage. It’s in a great location for exploring the island. No where is very far away. The pub is walkable but will take about 45 minutes at a swift pace. Would definitely go back. June 2012.
  2. The cottage and welcome is as described, very good. The cottage is situated on a small narrow road and I found the best access was via the church in Chale as the vision along narrow lanes was good and it had limited blind spots. Do not use sat nav for the exact location as it took us away from the correct route but once found it was easy. The range of birds taking peanuts from the surrounding trees included a woodpecker (with the hammering), Blue Tits and many many more - lovely location and ideal for a couple with the ability to travel around the Island. April 2012.
  3. We were made to feel very welcome by Lin and Cyril and appreciated the towel and bath for our 3 month old baby. Fabulous location - we loved the wildlife, especially the baby ducks waddling past each day! Lots of information for places to visit. Would highly recommend. Aug 2011.
  4. Beautifully equipped cottage, cosy and extremely comfortable. We had a wonderfully warm welcome from our hosts, Cyril and Lynn, plus a well chosen basket of goodies to start us off. Cottage situated in ideal position for trips to every corner of the island. May 2011.
  5. Great welcome from the owners, with thoughtful touches such as some milk and orange juice in the fridge. Lovely setting in the owner’s garden. Warm and homely. Oct 2010.
  6. Very well furnished property in lovely grounds. All fixtures and fittings top quality, nice little patio. Sept 2010.
  7. 2 settees, large comfortable bed, good shower. Sept 2010.
  8. It was in a very peaceful setting. Very clean excellent accommodation. Situated in a very accessible area of the IOW. The owners are first class. Aug 2010.
  9. Nice welcome pack, good equipment, very friendly owner but not intrusive, very comfy bed. May 2010.
  10. The cottage was perfect very clean and all the equipment excellent. Lyn and Cyril were very helpful and welcoming. Great would go again. April 2010.
  11. The cottage was charming. Just enough room. The owners provided tea, coffee, juice and milk. That was really nice. It was hard to find in the dark. Nov 2009.
  12. Liked its rural location, quietness, cleanliness. It had everything we needed. Very high standards. Set in lovely grounds. Owners very helpful. Welcome pack was indeed very welcome after a long journey. Oct 2009.

  14. Very well looked after and in a good location. Aug 2009.
  15. This property is a dream come true for anyone who wants to escape to a haven of peace and beauty, whilst indulging in excellent home comforts.. The standard was excellent, and the bathroom/bedroom and kitchen were luxurious. We would have liked some instructions on how to use the jet spa shower properly! We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. The owners were really generous in providing us with a basket of food for breakfast, along with fresh fruit. This was much appreciated, since we had no idea where to shop locally until the next day. July 2009.
  16. Quiet, peaceful and excellent accommodation, friendly owners, wonderful wildlife. July 2009.
  17. This was an unexpected delight. Beautifully located in the grounds of a traditional cottage. The cottage had been carefully designed to ensure spacious accommodation and to take advantage of the lovely situation. The welcome pack was gratefully received. Ideal for a couple or single person looking for tranquility in beautiful surroundings. May 2009.
